While at a Health and Wellness Expo in Raleigh, NC the company offered a 10-minute only registration for an all-expense paid trip to Disneyland at Universal Studio. It was a 4-person, 6 day vacation to Orlando, Florida. It was transferable and valid for 1 year. It included hotel and dining accommodations along with free admission to various local attractions. Always the skeptic, I inquired further, only to learn that this free, all-expense paid trip would be available for the price of $398.00. They then asked for my Visa account number and expiration date.

A decision must be made immediately or the offer would be directed to another entry submitter. When I turned the offer down, I received a comment Fine...bye!!!. The representative proceeded to hang up the phone in my ear.

Today (6/11/2009) I began my investigation into this company only to learn that they are fraudulent and have other complaints lodged against them. No website is available for this company and other verifying information is also impossible to locate.
I would appreciate any additional information that you can provide.
Thank you.

American Getaways made false statements

AUTHOR: Mr. D - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, May 08, 2011

About a week ago my fiance received a phone call from an American Getaways representative. While on the phone she seemed very excited and whispered to me that we won a vacation. I got on the phone to ask what company to whom I was speaking with; the rep responded Disney, Carnival Cruise Lines and Royal Caribbean. I responded that I did not need the companies she was representing; rather I wanted to know which company actually employed her. After a few minutes of back and forth I got American Getaways as her response. I then gave the phone back to my fiance and went online to do research. I was lucky to stumble upon this report and read it before getting back on with the rep.  Interestingly, I did not tell the rep I read the report and asked all the questions discussed in the report and can say she lied about everything!
Multiple times during the call she made the following statements: You won a trip, This is a free vacation,  you are only paying a small part so you do not have to pay taxes at the end of the year," This is not a solicitation. Also, they did not even mention timeshares until the very end.

Other information: As the call progressed the rep stated her manager had just walked in and wanted to give us a free upgrade.  It seemed like a scam the entire time, but, at this point, I was certain. I was sure this was part of the sales pitch, since she did not even talk to her manager before making the statement.  I told the manager that I did not trust them and that they sounded like sales people; he said they were not in sales and that we had, in fact, won a trip. He understood our skepticism, but assured me that if I gave him my credit card information he could process our trip.

I called Blue Green with whom Mike Portman said he was employed by. Blue Green said that they are in no way affilated with American Getaways and that this was a scam. They took the info and submitted it to the authorities. SCAM

Non-ethical

AUTHOR: Jason - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, July 27, 2010

All that is said above is true and this program is very much on the shady side in my opinion.  The problem that I have is that they say this is non-refundable after 30 days.  Regardless if you have used the goods or services.  Things change over the course of 547 days and if you want to cancel this before booking or using your trip, you should be able to do so.  Any company acting in good faith should be willing to refund your $400 dollars.  I would stay far far away from this program and both of these companies.  If they choose to refund my money, I would change my tune, but since they are insistent in keeping my money, be warned.

American Getaways, LLC

One other point:

Every family that is offered these "promotional" Orlando vacations has filled out a legal registration slip that states clearly if "qualified" you may be solicited for a discounted vacation package. It also states it is not free nor a winnings and is for the purpose of timeshare tours.

Unfortunately persons do not take the time to read the specifics of the offer and become dissapointed at the organization offering the product.

Best Regards,
American Getaways, LLC
