American Warranty is an extended warranty company that rips off the consumer by charging a premium and not paying claims. the claims are handle so poorly that dealers and repair shops do not want to do business with the consumer if American Guardian is involved.
I have had several claims with this company that I have had to argue with just to get them to pay what they are suppose to pay. Now it has elevated to a level, where that are not paying at all.
I have a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. Recently, I had to have this vehicle towed into my local Chevrolet dealer for a bad fuel pump. I wanted to take it to a local mechanic that I have trusted for years, but due to a previous claim with American Guardian this mechanic will not do business with me if American Guardian is involved.
After confirmation from the dealer that the fuel pump was bad, American Guardian was called and the claim process was started. American Guardian would only authorize aftermarket parts. However, American Guardian would only authorize 75% of the aftermarket price.This was not satisfactory.
I called the claims manager and got the full aftermarket price authorized. About a week later, the aftermarket pump failed. I called and explained the situation. I could get the pump covered, but I would need American Guardian to cover the labor. The claim was immediately denied by Mike Webster EXT 4112.
Later that day, the dealer received a call from American Guardian and was told to stop all work on the vehicle. They would be sending an inspector out within 48 hours. Finally 4 days later, he shows up.
I tried to find out the inspectors name, company, and tried to get a copy of his findings. He refused to give me any of this information. His reply was "I have nothing to do with you." My claim was denied.
