American Home Shield - Home Warranty Service Would not honor home warranty contract and fix air conditioning unit cARROLL, Iowa
*Consumer Suggestion: Sue Them in Small Claims
I purchased a home warranty from AHS. I have had it for seven years. My AC unit broke down. They refuse to honor the warranty. They say it has not been maintained. I have had the unit maintained twice a year every year. I sent them the reciept from the maintance company. They still refuse to honor the warranty. I am a 78 year old male. It is over 98 degrees in Florida. My home is hot and I am on a fixed income and cannot afford to replace the unit. That is why I purchased the home warranty. They refuse to even work out the sitation.

Sue Them in Small Claims
AUTHOR: R.Kelly - (United States of America)
SUBMITTED: Tuesday, July 06, 2010
It's very easy to take them to small claims court. All I had to do was threaten the action and my previously denied claim was approved. Within 3 days I had a new $2200 appliance. Remember to sue for the maximum allowed in your date. Punitive damages are allowed in most states.
