American KnightMARE!

I contracted with Dwayne the sales rep at American Knights Moving and Storage in mid September to pack AND pick up my fruniture from Cincinnati Ohio and move it to Houston and store it for 3 months awaiting my arrival in early December 2013. The movers arrived as scheduled. They were very fast with the packing and since there were 4 of them I could not watch all of them as they packed. After the truck was loaded, they increased the price by $1000. That was scame #1. They assured me that my things were heading to Houston where they would be stored until december. Dwayne had assured me of that and I had not contracted with other more reputable companies who could not promise that my things would be stored in Houston. Knowing Ohio winters I did not want my things delayed in a winter storm.

I also repeatedely asked Dwayne if their Houston storage faacility was acceptable and free of roaches, rodents AND water. He assured me it was nice and even swore by it...!I had built a relationship with him so I believed I could trust him and this company. Starting in October I tried to reach Dwayne to set my delivery date for early december. I called him 13 times. No response. I sent several emails. Finally someone called from American knights me and said Dwayne had been fired for doing unethical things but assured me my things would be delivered as I requested them on December 5th. I arrived in Houston on my anticipated date and was unable to verify the time the company would arrive to deliver my things. No one returned my calls. So I got a sick feeling. I decided to go to the Waltrip address on December 8th. It was a mess in there. Nasty, grungy, crowded, dirty and THAT was their corporate headquarters. It was then that I suspected my things were stored someplace worse. There, I spoke to Lisa a manager who lied through her teeth about what had caused the delay and even gave me her cell number to try to assuage my fears. Too bad she never answered that same cell whenever I called it. My stuff finally arrived 3 days later--8 days after they promised. I called the owner, Kobi who refused to give me any break in price for my delayed delivery. Instead, he threatened me that he would "come to my place" (inferring violence) and promptly sent someone to get me to sign a document releasing the company of all future claims. To me, not only was that illegal, but it was a gglaring sign of a consciusness of guilt. I refused to sign and reminded them of the federal law that prohibits such a practice of holding my stuff hostage until I sign some illegal document under durress releasing them of damage. Once I refused once and all to sign and paid them, the drivers opened the door of the truck. My stuff starting falling to the ground as soon as they raised the door.---alll of it. It was so poorly packed and not secured. Little did I know that that was the LEAST of my worries. Once they brought my things in, I was overwhelmed by how every box was crushed and had been opened or WET and every plactic storage bin was in pieces (as if it were glass). HOw in the HELL can you break a huge plastic bin? I had a NEAR TOTAL LOSS of everything I owned. My antique stove was in pieces. After being moved all around the U.S and surviving 100 years, it arrived in pieces with its legs broken and heating elements in a million pieces. My new piano also had its legs broken. My tables and bedroom furniture were all missing its legs. My foyer table was sitting on the floor without legs. The driver called to the Ohio office and the Houston one to indicate that I had NO legs for anything. he finally apologized to me and said he felt ashamed to work for a so-called Christian company that did this to a single mother. My electronics were gone--including a brand new 32 inch LED tv still in its box, a lap top, and HP printer, blue ray players etc. My lamps were all bent or shattered. Nothing fragile had been wrapped inside the boxes depite the fact that I paid for packing materials. Hammers were packed in same boxes as my Tiffany lamp, shoes were in the same boxes as fragile crystal figurines. Furniture was missing: tables, an endtable, and my accent chair for my living room. Entire warddrobe boxes full of suits and designer shoes gone. Inside two of my warddrobe boxes I FOUND A RODENT'S NEST full of shards of my clothing they had ripped off to keep warm. Another I could not open because the urine and feces smell knocked me back. Every single box had been opened and retaped. Plastic bins were in pieces. PLEASE PEOPLE look at the jarring similarities in all the complaints against this company: LIES, THEFT, and DAMAGED goods. Do NOT pay anyone to do this sort of damage to your life. After all these months, Today I got an email from their fake insurance company (I got extra insurance) and their offer for all my trouble??? $203!!!!
