American Lifeline Industries Lifeline Industries Elderly Scam for Light bulb purchases Nationwide

Apparently in early 2012, my friend was contacted by telephone and sold lighbulbs with an invoice price of $270.  She subsequently, in 2014, was admitted to an Alzheimer Dementia Assisted Living facility.  Her home phone number was dialed on Aug 26, 2014, stating that her invoice of $270 was overdue, the account had been closed, and the amount due sent to collections. The company insisted they had made repeated contacts with my friend in 2012, and had closed the account in 2013.  They have now turned the account over to a collection agency. They would not send me an invoice or allow me to pay the amount due over the telephone. They kept saying they used "handicapped" people to prepare the invoices and make the early bill contacts, and they now have no control over the invoicing or the submission to a collection agency.

Not only is this practice discriminatory and frustrating, it is likely that my friend was scammed from the beginning in terms of being told she was receiving high quality light bulbs and was helping the "handicapped."  Because of her vulnerablity and memory deficit, she likely could not recall the phone calls for payment. When I have contacted the company, they said they cannot send a repeat invoice and that they don't work with a "paper trail." I have offered to pay the amount in full if the iinvoice is sent, and they have refused to do so. They will not tell me the home city of the compnany, but state they are working out of California.

I am certain this company is a rip-off, and preys upon older adults who do not understand what they are ordering nor the outrageous over pricing of the items ordered. I am not certain that any light bulbs were ever received.

If anyone has any additional offices to which I may report this behavior, please advise. I would like to report to any Attorney General of states in which they operate.
