 In March of 2013 My aunt and uncle bought and paid for a headstone for my mother from this company and paid them $2,000 cash.  The headstone was supposed to be placed on my mother's grave by August of 2013.  When the headstone wasn't on the grave by September of 2013, they went to American Monument to find out what the hold up was.  Much to their surprise they found the doors locked and no one around.

When they went to the cemetary to find out what the deal was they were told the owner died and the business was closed.  So needless to say they are out that $2,000 and have since had to purchase a second headstone.

I feel they were 100% percent ripped off because the headstone had been bought and paid for before the death of the owner so it should have been ordered and paid for before the business was closed.  So in other words American Monument took the money and did absolutely nothing.

This has been a terrible experience first going the the death of a loved one only to turn around and have some crook rip you off.

My family is not well off so it has taken us almost 3 years to save up enough money to buy my mother a headstone.  I would be willing to bet the owner of the company has a very nice headstone on his grave.

First of all did the estate have any empathy for the consumers that did't get what they paid for?

I waited until April 2014 before I did this report in order to see if the estate was going to step up and take care of business.  Which by the way as of today that hasn't happened and believe me we have been working on it for the past nine months.  My mother shouldn't have to wait for an estate to get it's affairs in order to have a marker placed on her resting place.  Especially since it was bought and paid for a year ago!

If the estate didn't want the COMPANY NAME slandered I guess they should have done the right thing and made things right with the companies customers.

By the way, do a search on the company name and you will see it is not just ME that must have this sociopathic behavior and don't like being ripped off.

I would never see a ripoff report on the internet slandering my mother because she didn't rip anyone off!

Are you serious?  How dare you tell me I have no empathy! 

Me and my family have tried for over a year to get  this company to honor thier obligations with the help of the mortuary who also didn't get their portion of our money with no avail so don't tell me I am just ranting.  If you were in my shoes and had to try and come up with the money twice to honor you loved one I am sure you would feel the same way.

I have lost someone I love dearly and only want to honor her by providing a marker for her resting place and I feel I have every right to be upset about this situation. I did not dishonor the death of anyone, I simply said I bet the owner of this company has a nice headstone which I am sure is 100% true. 

So if you are part of this company, would you like to step up and reimburse me and my family the $2,000 that we paid the company for my mother's headstone?  If not I suggest you not worry about what I put on Ripoff Report which I have every right to do!  I have done nothing but tell what happened to me and my family so maybe someone else can prevent this from happening to them.

 As someone who has had to deal with a death in the family, you show ZERO empathy or understanding. What a GREAT human being you are to ride the death of your mother yet discount the death of another. The depth of your soul...I cant finish that, there is no depth to YOUR soul. Did you ever think to contact the estate of the company and requesting a refund?? No, youre just online ranting. You didnt even give THEM a chance to get that persons affairs in order. Just goes to show YOUR lack of empathy. People like you are disgusting, no basic human emotion that isnt centered around YOU. Thats classic sociopathic behaviour.

There is a right way and a wrong way to do things. A death in the family kinda exempts them from doing anything at that moment. YOU have chosen the wrong way and slandered a DEAD MAN. Must feel awful good about yourself picking on those who cant defend themselves against YOUR accusations. One has to wonder how YOU would have felt if some nitwit went online and started bashing your dead mother....
