When I was emailed an estimate it was reasonable $105 per hour for 4 men to do the job. The company estimated that the whole job from pickup to storage would take about 3 1/2 hours. It took 4 men 3 hours just to put the stuff in the truck. It was office furniture that we paid $80 for! The men were rude and specifically told not to wrap each and every item, the items were about 10 chairs a couple filing cabinets and desks, 6 cubicle partitions....they still went ahead and wrapped everything. The wrapping costs were ridiculous.
We were also told that storage of our items would be free for the first month....they charged us $200 for the storage as soon as they processed the bill, not waiting to see if we were there longer than a month!
We tried to work this out with them and to no avail, these moving companies sure know how to get around with over charging customers!

Any information regarding how to handle getting ahold of the manager?

I have a extremely similiar situation and didn't know if you could provide me with any information regarding this issue?
I have for 3 weeks now been trying to contact the so-called manager. They have had my possessions for over a month. When I was promised them by 15 business days. Interesting how that works. And to top it off I have two toddlers who I did NOT plan for having their things on a truck for 4 weeks.
Very disappointed and upset, but mostly with the management and how they handle business. I still don't have my things and they have been promised to me for the last two weeks now. The unfortunate part is, the driver is the one who is going to show up and it's not his fault, but he's the one who will have to deal with the situaion because the lack of honesty and morals that the management has with this company!
If you have any info that might help me, Margie, please contact me!
Thank you,
Michelle

American Pro Moving gives an accurate estimate and does only what the customer agrees to.

When Margie contacted us for an estimate, which was over the phone, we gave her an estimate based on the information she gave us. She signed the estimate that stated that we charge by the hour for the number of hours worked on the move date and not the estimated number of hours. On the move date Margie was not present. She had a manager from her office taking care of the move. Our foreman noticed a change from the original estimate over the phone and immediately gave a new written estimate before he started the move. The manager reviewed the new estimated cost and then signed it to approve the move. He could have said that it was to much to pay or call Margie and ask what to do, but he did not, and instead he told us to keep on doing the move. By law we have to give a written estimate in the beginning of the move so there will be no surprises at the end and that is what we did. When the manager saw the estimated materials to be used he asked the foreman not to wrap some of the items to reduce the cost and the foreman did what he asked. We did not wrap all the items, and we only wrapped what the manager agreed to. It took longer hours to do this move because the information Margie had provided to us was wrong. She had more items to move and that is why it took longer time to complete this move. As for storage, we did not charge her $200 before the first month was over, rather we charged her for a bigger space in our storage since she had more items to be moved than the original estimate over the phone. So to summarize this respond, we gave an honest and accurate estimate in the beginning of the move that was signed and agreed by the customer. We only wrapped items that the customer agreed to and we only charged the estimated amount and nothing else. Margie was not there to handle nor see the moving process nor the written estimate and that is why she thinks this way. I hope, with this respond, that Margie and I will solve this matter to her satisfaction.
