In March of 2006 I noticed the water line to my refridgerator was leaking. I am fully covered by American Home Shield, (tongue firmly planted in cheek here) anyway, I called AHS and they dispatched Rescue Rooter. The first technician said they didn't cover this and didn't know how to repair it. Interesting.. They dispatched another tech in which when he arrived he checked my water pressure. It was way too high. I needed a PRV valve installed to reduce the water pressure. This was not covered by AHS, so out of pocket I paid $400 to have the valve installed on top of the $45 for the leaky pipe to be replaced. Everything was fine at that point.

Fast forward 10 months. My water heater is 22 years old, it gives me about 5 mins - 10 mins of hot water per use and it's a 50 gallon tank. Obviously, it needs to be replaced. American Home Shield, according to my warranty covers ALL components of this water heater. I file a service request and they dispatch Rescue Rooter. Well, as soon as the tech gets there he checks my water pressure, because as we ALL know now AHS doesn't cover it if the water pressure is too high. Well, it registered at 110 psi, way TOO HIGH. Hmmm..I just paid about $450 10 months ago to fix this.. So now, instead of checking the valve or presenting any alternative solutions he calls AHS who in turn immediately denies my claim. Then he tells me that they can replace the valve which they themselves, Rescue Rooter, installed 10 months ago for about the same cost! Really?!?! This guy didn't even go look at the valve that was installed, could it have been improperly installed? Improperly adjusted? Maybe, perhaps a manufacturers defect? No, he just left, all the while sabotaging my claim for what really isn't even the reason the water heater needs to be replaced. That would be its 22 years old, corroded and simply worn out not the dang water pressure. The tech also attempted to get me to pay him on the side to install a water heater citing the inflated costs of his company. Beware of this company, if you warranty company suggests them, please say NO. I didn't and I am paying for it big time.
