I was quoted under a binding contract for $3865.34 through American Standard Moving. Upon delivery I was informed I owed an additional $954. They run a very deceptive business and have absolutely no problem lying to you to get a non refundable deposit. They’ve had 53 BBB complaints filed in the last 12 months for the same deceptive practices.
I’ve filed a complaint with the better business bureau, the federal trade commission and the Florida state attorneys office. More complaints are coming. These people need to be put out of business. Once they get here with their additional charges and you can’t pay, they hold your belongings hostage for extra fee. If this isn’t illegal it should be.
I implore you to investigate this company. Not just on my behalf but for the 53 other people who filed complaints and countless others who didn’t. Thank you. I need to clarify that after the $1711 deposit was payed I was told I’d need to pay $950.97 on the pickup end and the same on the delivery end.
The final bill came to $4954. Which means I was roughly overcharged $954. I will provide the documentation so long as this page allows me. If not I’ll be happy to email them.

Moving Report American Standard Moving has been known to be scammers in the moving industry. There is a special warning issued for them, they may not be authorized to perform residential and/or commercial relocations in the continental US.
WARNING: Their VMT (Vehicle Miles Traveled), which is required by federal law, shows no mileage, whatsoever. American Standard Moving has no social media signals, meaning they do not have real reviews or have invested in a social media presence, usually another red flag. No positive reviews posted from Unique IP Addresses from any 3rd party sites.
WARNING: Any positive reviews found may be fake. Other valid identifiers that help guarantee legitimacy in a company such as various paperwork that were not found, these include various things like the form, MCS-150, which is the Motor Carrier Identification Report. This may also happen if the annual MX/MCS-150 has not been filled out in the Mover Exposed database. This is usually a red flag.
WARNING: MCS-150 Form outdated, due to mileage discrepancy. More valid identifiers that help consumers of the moving industry guarantee legitimacy in a company consist of various paperwork that were not found, these include various things like the State Carrier ID Number, which is the Motor Carrier Identification Report. This is another red flag.

If you’re reading this report, keep in mind the rebuttals your reading are from a moving broker or somebody closely associated with the corrupt and useless business. I would implore everyone and everybody not to use a moving broker.
I made a mistake in doing so and that’s the purpose of this complaint. The individual filing the rebuttals does not have all the facts and yet he continues to speak. A clear indication of their superior intellect. When one is that smart ,facts aren’t required and resorting to name calling(idiots, morons, lost etc...) is the path they use.
I filed a brief synopsis of what happened and I’ll leave all the details to attorneys and federal agencies.

Correction. You don’t care which pretty much sums up my feeling about your opinions based on a fraction of facts. SEE, the VA does and so do a lot of people. You just like to hear yourself talk and defend a corrupt industry. I’m one of the common folk you look down on. Keep calling everyone idiots. I’m sure you have all kind of friends. FO

You’re clearly a broker trying to defend a worthless and corrupt scam. Calling everybody morons, idiots, etc.. really isn’t helping prove or help your rebuttal. You see when people get ripped off it’s always unwittingly. I mentioned the disability thing because the case has already started with the lawyers the VA provided.
The FMCSA HAS already began an investigation . Apparently YOU don’t care and I don’t care what YOU think. Don’t you have some consumers you could be ripping off right now? You are in this business or else you wouldn’t be fiercely defending it. I’m also not sure how somebody with less than a quarter of the information can call me stupid and keep flapping there gums.
The VA does care. You’re wrong about that as does the FMCSA. But I really think you’re the idiot. You’re not winning here. Keep jaw jacking though. It gives me great pleasure to make your day. So happy scamming for you and your consumer’s.

Seriously, nobody cares whether you are a disabled veteran, or gay, or elderly, or any other what you think is some protected class. No one at the FTC, or DOT, or the BBB is seriously going to listen to you for all of the reasons I stated. I mean the BBB doesn't even have enforcement authority...lol. I mean you seriously are this stupid, along with the other 53 morons who think the BBB will do anything.
I wouldn't boast about being a disabled veteran. That's just an excuse people use to think they're special and should be treated differently. It doesn't. It also makes you more of a target by scammers.

Are you sure you don’t want to take any more cracks at my lack of intellect? I’m a 100 percent disabled veteran and as a result I have access to legal resources others may not.
See, the VA really frowns on disabled vets being ripped off and veterans in general. This is just the start.

Is it really 53 idiots we’re dealing with here or very shady deceptive greedy brokers we’re dealing with. Obviously they don’t make everything perfectly clear as you say or these complaints wouldn’t exist.
Had the made things perfectly clear I wouldn’t have used them.

They made nothing perfectly clear and something will be done about it, They lied to me so many times about a great number of things. FMCSA emailed me this morning stating there intentions to investigate.
I really am happy I could make an obviously angry persons day though. I’m here to help anytime you need a pick me up. You don’t have the full story yet you flap your gums. Whose the idiot?

Already filed a complaint with the FMCSA. You’re right. They are very interested in brokers and the fraud they commit. I’m not lost you’re just a participant in this shameful game they play. In one way or another you have a vested interest. So, I guess we should no longer trust or use brokers. Fine with me.
They served me no purpose other than to make a couple of phone calls on my behalf. The idiots comment is interesting. You clearly have a lot of time on your hands. With the superior intellect, arrogant attitude and condescending tone I’m sure you’re one of them. So you can call all these people idiots but the paperwork mounts and that’s what the feds look for.
See, calling everyone idiots serves no purpose because it’s highly unlikely everyone are. The problem starts with the deceptive practices. The idea that they’ll handle everything for you for a set price. Deception and fraud. Hopefully your business will meet the same fate.im not done with filing complaints and won’t be for a while. FO

You Were Not Deceived By The Company And You Were Not Ripped Off
AUTHOR: Jim - (United States)
SUBMITTED: Monday, February 03, 2020
Their website makes it perfectly clear they don't perform moves. The only thing they do is work with licensed movers. You are still VERY lost, and so are the other idiots who posted complaints to the BBB so I will explain more, since you can't get it through your thick skull you were not deceived. BTW, this has nothing to do with contract law. This has everything to do with how the moving industry works:
You contracted with a broker. The ONLY responsibility a broker has is to find you a mover. They do not issue binding quotes because it says right on their own website that you will be subject to the tariff (pricing) of the mover. So whatever pricing they provided you was completely worthless. Much like your complaint.
The broker then finds you a mover, for which they pocket your deposit, plus any commission they get from the mover who finally moves you. When that mover shows up, the responsibility of the broker ends right there. The broker is not responsible for any bad acts by the mover they found you. The broker is not responsible for any damages that happen during the move. As a result, any complaints against the broker are not valid since the only responsibility they have is to find you a mover. Based on what you wrote, the broker found you a mover.
Now, can you do the same work as the broker? Absolutely. You can shop for a mover just as easily as a broker can. A broker is an unnecessary part of the moving process, unless you are a multi-millionaire and don't want to waste time doing the work yourself. In that case, a specialized moving broker helps, not this company you found. But you opted to select this broker and that is your right.
Now, you were VERY lucky and it could have been a whole lot worse. All you have to do is search this website for all of the other idiots who selected a broker. Those complaints include things like:
- Price increases of 200%-300% from what the broker told them
- Household goods sitting in a warehouse for 30 days without delivery and shippers wondering where their stuff is.
- 30%-50% of the items finally delivered are scratched, broken, or lost
It seems clear none of those things hapened to you, otherwise you would have posted that as well.
BTW, how do I know none of these organizations will do anything? The FTC has no jurisdiction over the moving industry - that comes under the oversight of the DOT. The FTC will hand over your complaint to the DOT. The DOT has exactly 5 people overseeing the entire interstate moving industry, consisting of thousands of movers across the country. The DOT has prioritized going after unlicensed rogue movers - they do not go after brokers and they certainly don't go after movers that haven't performed any illegal acts. The Florida AG and DOT won't do anything either because the FLDOT has no jurisdiction over interstate movers, and you haven't identified anything the AG would go after a broker for.
Want to take a guess how I know this? Because I've seen it. Politicians I've met with won't do anything. No one is going to do anything and simply put, everything you've written to this point shows the broker, the mover and everyone actually did their job, for a change. It may be a little more than what the broker said it would be, but then you didn't have a binding quote from a mover either.
Moral of the story: Moving is not an inexpensive venture. It will cost far more than you are generally quoted and you place your treasured items with someone you met online. I'm always amazed when people say they would never let their children go out with people they met online, but have no trouble handing over their possessions - some of them priceless - to someone they met online. Never use a broker and always check out the USDOT website to make sure you are dealing with a licensed mover and not a broker.

I didn’t refuse to pay
AUTHOR: William - (United States)
SUBMITTED: Monday, February 03, 2020
Thank you for providing such valuable feedback. This company is not affiliated with the bbb and I did pay the bill. The FTC can and will respond to these situations. I have personal experience in that matter. Maybe there will be no response from Florida officials but they are on the Feds radar.
So all 53 other complaints, for essentially the same deceptive practice, those people are suckers and idiots too? 600 complaints with another company and those people are idiots as well? Don’t you have something more productive to do with your time than to insult hundreds of people who have been mislead by deceptive companies? Y
ou have to realize, not everyone is an expert in contract law. It may take some time and I have no expectations of personal benefit but the company will pay the price.

I was ripped off
AUTHOR: William - (United States)
SUBMITTED: Monday, February 03, 2020
I won’t respond to all of this. No time nor inclination. They have a c plus rating with the bbb. I’ve filed a complaint with the fcc and if you don’t it think they watch that you’re wrong. I also filed a complaint with the Florida attorney General. I played a small part with the FTC ten years ago when a company ripped me off.
US attorneys watch this and it’s only a matter of time before their shut down or laws are changed. So your calling me an idiot for trusting some company? Strange how you defend their deceptive practices though. This is called ripoff report and there is no doubt you have a dog in this race. Reports will continue to be filed and paperwork will continue to accumulate.
I was deceived by the company giving me a final total owed. And of course that turned out not to be the case. So your superior intellect would not allow this to happen? Good for you. I’m really proud of you. You’re calling me a sucker? That’s what happens when people get ripped off.

I Don't Think So....
AUTHOR: Jim - (United States)
SUBMITTED: Sunday, February 02, 2020
I was quoted under a binding contract for $3865.34 through American Standard Moving. No, actually you weren't provided a binding quote. How do I know? Because this company is a broker and unable to perform a move according to the Federal Department of Transportation. On the website you provided, you'll find a statement at the bottom of their page indicating they are a licensed broker.
They have no trucks and no drivers according to the DOT's Safersys website. Accordingly, there would be no possible way you were provided a binding quote. Only a licensed mover can provide you a bindng quote and only after they've seen everything that needs to be moved - usually before the move is even done. A broker cannot.
You are so lost, you don't even know the company that actually did the move for you.
They run a very deceptive business and have absolutely no problem lying to you to get a non refundable deposit. You actually gave a company who cannot perform a move for you a deposit for a move? That's something you NEVER do. I mean WOW!!
Once they get here with their additional charges and you can’t pay, they hold your belongings hostage for extra fee. If this isn’t illegal it should be. Hostage loading is generally illegal, however based on what you wrote, they told you what the price was and you refused to pay the additional amount. The problem is that the additional $954 isn't an additional charge - it is the price you were supposed to pay because the price you were quoted by the broker was meaningless since they can't perform a move. As a result, there was nothing wrong with what they did. What you should have done was pay the bill.
I will provide the documentation so long as this page allows me. If not I’ll be happy to email them. It is unnecessary to provide anything. You did just about eveything wrong.
I’ve filed a complaint with the better business bureau, the federal trade commission and the Florida state attorneys office. I missed this classic statement. Florida is where the most moving companies in the USA call home. Most of them call Florida home because none of these entities you filed a complaint to can or will do anything. Many of them are also members of the BBB which means their rating with the BBB can be no lower than an A-. One mover in Florida (still in business) had over 600 complaints in a 36 month period. The BBB gave them an A-. Why? Because the mover is a member of the BBB.
So let's see what you should have done:
Stay off the internet when finding a mover: Most brokers and companies that are generally incompetent live on the internet. They count on people like you who have absolutely no idea WTH they are doing and before you know it, the sucker finds the wrong mover. The only thing you should look on the internet for is what to expect when moving out of state. Based on what you wrote, you broke every rule in this regard.
Find movers local to you: Unless you happen to be starting your move in Florida, there is no need to find a mover in Florida to perform your move. There are plenty of movers local to you that can perform your move. Invite 3 movers to come and see what needs to be moved and have them provide you a quote in writing. That move, if you find the right mover, will give you a binding quote without you having to ask. If a mover won't come to your residence, then drop them from your list. If you happen to be in Florida when starting a move, none of these movers will come to see you because they have no incentive right now to do so.
The only way a broker can be put out of business is if you don't do business with a broker. When people like you opt to use a broker, you become part of the problem, not part of the solution.
No, I am not with any moving company....
