We leased a truck on April 29, 2013, it was 9:30 pm when we picked up the truck after an all day wait at the office in Gulfport MS.Fulling the truck the next morning at the truck stop across the road from the American Truck Showroom in Gulfport MS, we then left to bring the truck back to our lot in Virginia.

The truck made it to exit 147 in Commerce, GA ON I85 north of Atlanta. I called the office number for American Truck Showrooms to let them know we were having trouble with the truck, we were told by the customer sales rep that there was no one that could help us. After three calls I then called our sales rep. He was very helpful and said to take the truck to the Atlanta location by the was is not in Atlanta but is actually in Newnan, GA.

We attempted to drive the truck back toward Atlanta only to get five miles from the exit and the truck shut off completely and would not restart. I called the sales rep back to inform him of this and was told a tow truck would be sent for us to just stay there and wait. The truck showed up five hours latter and towed us to Newnan at the American Truck Showrooms office there. We were told the next morning that the truck had bad injectors and a blown head!.

We were offered another truck and waited all day for the truck so they could get it ready;. They could not get it ready so we said we would be back the next morning, we were told it would be ready by 8:30 am?. At 9:00 am the next morning we were told it was still not ready.. We then informed the manager we were leaving and would be sending the bank info for a refund'.

Now we did look the truck over in Gulfport and did find a few things wrong and they did take the truck back to the shop and it was returned with what appeared to be wiped down places where the oil and dirt was wiped off to signal a repair had been made;. But the shop in Newnan, GA told us that the truck could not have been looked at or they would have found the problems!. We had the truck in our position for all of ten hours after we left Gulfport, MS before we told American Truck Showrooms we wanted our money back and was told no problem by everyone we spoke to!. On May 14, 2013 we received a refund of $4110.00.

The problem was we paid them $7142.50 and was told we could get all our money back except for $498.00 for the application fee witch we agreed to. After we received the refund we called back to tell them they shorted us $2534.50 we were then told that was all we were getting and we were no longer a customer of theirs to quit calling them if we wanted to contact them any further we had to fax or send a letter they were not going to take any more calls from us.

I ask to speak to a manager and was told he was busy and would not speak to us.PLEASE DO NOT FALL FOR THE NICE TALK THEY ARE NOTHING BUT A SCAM!

Dealer's comment

AUTHOR: Zom - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, April 25, 2016

I worked in car dealerships for over 12 years, I was involved in thousands of car sales, and I learned a lot of things that make car shopping easier for people.

Don't assume that a car has a certain feature that you want. I once was showing a midsize sedan to a guy who came into the dealership without his wife. We went on a lengthy test-drive, and then he bought the car. I didn't know it, but he and his wife were going to use the car for long road trips, and because of his bum knee, his wife was going to do most of the driving.

Don't be afraid to listen to dealership suggestions. I'm not talking about bait and switch, but salespeople offering really good alternatives. When I sold cars, it was common for people to come looking for a particular model because of its low sticker price, but then drive out with a nicer car at the same or a lower price, thanks to the special programs and incentives that they didn't know existed.

When you're trying to negotiate a lower sales price, give the dealership a reason to discount the price. If you'll use the service department, say so. If you'll refer friends, be sure to say that, too. If you're likely to give a perfect survey or buy a future car from them, share that with the dealership, too.

Take care!
