In June, 1999, I purchased 2 Phone card machines from Americard Dispersing Corp., with $1,000 worth of cards for sale in these machines for $10,000 shipped to my address prepaid, this was supposed to be a turnkey business.

I found locations for these 2 machines in a chain of convenience markets, the owner liked them , stated he would like them in each of his markets, I purchased a total of 7 machines, the government later changed the U.S. bills, and they would no longer work in the machines, I contacted the Co. and was informed it would cost me $100.00 each to have the electronics reworked to receive these new bills, I had not shown a profit to be able to make these changes, I had to pull the machines.

I called the Company about all the cards I had left for a refund, I was informed they would renew the expiration dates but could nt refond my money, the machines would no longer accept the new bills, so I had to lick my wounds and try to absorb my losses, which are in Thousands of Dollars, at that time I knew nothing of this ripoff site.

I find they are operating under a new name, and still doing their thing. I found this information also on this site. BEWARE!

Thats not the whole story

$100 a machine wouldn't be bad but they were selling them for $3000 to $6000 APIECE. I dealt with the same crooks a few years ago. They claim they will find you locations. The locations should sell (pull a figure out of the air) $500 worth of cards a month. FACT:They found about half of my locations. I got tired of waiting and found some more. Their locations averaged about 10% or less of the monthly revenue they suggested as being "average".

They were selling their own cards at one time. Then they went broke and the cards wouldn't work anymore. So I found a new card company. The problem was a lot of people had bought the bad cards. I returned the money for the ones that turned them in. But once that happened, the sales in the two machines that were making money went to near zero. That was about the size of it. (Early on these phone card companies would come and go overnight. The phone card business in south Florida was incestuous. This person worked for this company then started his own. His brother closed one company and started working for his cousin. It was like there were 15 people and they were opening and closing these companies every 5 months. There was a federal case brought against one of them I know of. I don't know the final result.)

Then I found out the people who had ran the first company had started another phone card company and were at it again.

The machines were worth probably less than $500 apiece. They were pretty simple. You know they would'nt be worth as much as a Coke machine.

For some reason it seems there are a lot of fly by nighters out of south Florida. Whether it's jewels, oil leases, phone cards...........When you see an opportunity and it's from South Florida and it sounds like someone from New York on the phone.......HANG UP and sell lemonade on the street corner. It will make you more money.

It wasn't the company that changed the bills, it was the federal government. Should the vending company be required to refit machines that they don't own for free? I have a friend in the vending business and he tells me that $100 per machine is quite reasonable. In addition, their offer to push out the expiration date on the cards certainly sounds like they're trying to be reasonable.
