Americatel Fraudulent Billing Slipped in charges for services I did not request or use Los Angeles California

I've been an AT&T customer for over 5 years now and I've bared with their spotty service for the land line at my house but this takes the case and is most certainly is a rip off. For over two months, AT&T keeps billing me with a fraudulent charge for 4.99 with the description of "Americatel". That's it. No other description as to what Americatel does or what service it provides but one can assume it is some sort of 3rd party. So I called AT&T and they confirmed my suspicion. They said that it was a "mandatory" charge in my case starting in August. What? When were they planning on telling me that they were going to make an extra 3rd party charge mandatory for their service? Silence from the operator. I canceled my account immediately and would advise all of your AT&T customers to inspect your bills with careful scrutiny.
