Ameritech Phone - SBC, Would not disconnect second line! Ripoff! Milwaukee Wisconsin

About 1 year ago we had a second line installed only to be used for the internet. After about 3 months we decided we did not need it and called to have it disconnected. They said they would do it right away.

A week went by and no disconnection so I called again. They said they did not have enough time to do it and will soon. About this time a month went by.Still not disconnected. Now im fuming mad. Especailly after we got a bill for install that we had 4 months before for $450 that we were told was FREE!

Now im irrate but kept calm on the phone when I called customer service. I was pushed around to about 5 different people who would not tell me why we were not disconnected and why we now had a bill for $450 for the original install of the line that was suppose to be free. When I talked to the last person they said I now owed more for a disconnection notice.

Guess how much? It was $889 for install and now the disconncet and thats not including the other lines bill. I WAS MADDDDDDDDDD! That same day I called TDS Metrocom and they took care of it, we kept same phone number and they called Ameritech and told em we were switching all for FREE! How nice. Months later we still had that second line still running.

It was NEVER disconnected. We got a collection bill for $1700 stating we owed that for the 2nd line. Ohh well I am not paying it. It was thier fault. The line finally shut off after I called TDS and they took care of it for us. All in all do not use Ameritech, use TDS Metrocom. We have never ever had a problem with them and their price plan is cheap. I hate Ameritech! ALL they do is ripp innocent people off!
