Ameritrust Ameritrustshop.com How you going to collect on checks I NEVER wrote?!? Dunedin Florida

On Monday, 3/17/2008, I received 2 check collection letters from Georgia Check Recovery (PO Box 45, 110 Main Street, Jersey, GA, 30018, 800-980-0405, acct#228263) regarding the collection on check numbers 9999 and 10001. I was alarmed because I didn't recall ever writing these two checks. When I called the Georgia Check Recovery office I spoke to a Ms. Rutledge. She informed me that they were a collection agency working on the behalf of AmeritrustShop.com, a web-based shopping site. She said that I must have signed up for credit with them and authorized the drafts for the two checks. I told her I never heard of this company and didn't recall ever authorizing withdrawals against my checking account to the amount of $708.00. Ms. Rutledge said that Ameritrust usually proves these checks via voice confirmation. I told her that I definitely never authorized these check by phone. Ms. Rutledge told me that they get complaints about Americredit all time, and advised me to file a complaint. She also kindly offered to put the file with her office under review/hold while I got in contact with Ameritrust and sorted things out.

Immediately visited Ameritrust website (ameritrustshop.com) and found their contact information. When I called their number and asked to speak with someone about fraudulent check drafts, they hung up. I called about 3 more times and each time I was routed thru the endless operating system: there were no options to get thru to a real person.

This is obviously a case of fraud. I NEVER gave Ameritrust or any other web-shopping/credit company permission to take money out of my checking account. These two bounced checks will ruin my credit score and possibly put me on Checksystems I doubt Ameritrust has any proof or voice-authorization that I ever allowed these checks to be debited electronically. I challenge them to present such proof.
