A salesman came to my door one day selling Amigo Electricity. He made it sound so good, I couldn't resist. It was cheaper than my current carrier at the time, and even promised me a fixed rate. Things went as they said for almost a year with my bills running from $120.00 to 200.00. Then out of the blue I got a bill for $400.00 and the next month it was over $500.00!! I tried to call them and talk about it, but there wasn't a satisfactory phone number to be found. I am on social security and disabled so I can't work. I went to State Aide with my problem and they too couldnt find a reachable phone number. I went with another electric company, and now Amigo billing or maybe a collection agency call two or three times a day. Each a different person. They wanted to make a payment plan, and I said only on "MY" terms because I knew I couldnt pay much, so I offered $20.00 a month. In my case, that is pushing it. They said NO, they had to have $50.00 a month and would not negociate anything less. I told them I wasnt going to pay anything then. Now they are relentless. So, Beware of Amigo Energy. They are total Ripoffs!

My name is Sarah Vega; JAVIER ANTONIO VEGA is my husband. Regarding Vega Resources d/b/a Amigo Energy complaints, Here are some things you should know when contemplating Amigo Energy complaints:
Before Javier and his father merged Amigo Energy with Fulcrum Power (the current owners) in 2007, Javier had amassed just two (2) validated PUC complaints over the entire history of the company, going back to its founding in 2003. It may very well be a record of compliance that remains unmatched in the industry to this day.
Javier was fired by his partners on October 3, 2008 at 430 pm, from the $100 million dollar company he founded out of our third bedroom of our home here in Houston, under questionable circumstances; Javier has not sought exposure to make the public (or any of the previous customers he attracted to his firm prior to Amigo's sale to Fulcrum Power) aware of this fact, nor has he even sought to set the record straight as to his discontinued role managing the company on such popular sites as Wikipedia, or the circumstances under which he was terminated.
I feel compelled to speak up in this circumstance because this complaint is directed specifically at Javier, who has not been involved in the company since 2008.
There are advocates in the community that have sought to shed light on these circumstances; if you would like to learn more, web research is easily accessible. I do not want the role of offering search suggestions so I will refrain from doing so.
As before when Javier owned the company, (when any of his tens of thousands of customers could call him personally on his mobile phone if they had a problem), Javier remains accessible, although is completely powerless to help address any problem you might have with the firm he founded.
