To all those innocent families looking to adopt a Savannah cat (hybrid cat) please beware of this retired breeder in AZ. She is adopting out retired cats and perhaps will continue to do this for some time. We are an unlucky family that adopted one of these cats. The cat was expensive and guaranteed to be healthy. Buyers beware of the specifics of the contract. A vet must see the animal within 3 days of ownership. This breeder will hold you to that technicality regardless of your efforts to the animal seen as soon as possible (based on your local area). This breeder even counted the day I drove to pick up the cat as a whole day we owned her. Rip-off. Trusting a licensed breeder does not guarantee anything. Paying a high dollar value does not guarantee good quality. A breeder being overly nice and talking you into buy a cat does not mean the cat is actually good for you. A vet saw the cat we adopted 5 business days after we brought the animal home. (7 days total including the weekend, the breeder claimed we owned her 8 days). The animal had ear mites for a long time. This was the reason for the extreme balding around the ears. The animal had dead ear mites in one ear and live ones in the other. The breeder offered to give a partial refund and take the animal back due to being a danger to our home and other pets. Our home was not equipped to keep an animal quarantined until healthy which is why we went through extra efforts to drive far and pay a lot of money for a cat from an official breeder. The breeder said we breached contract due to not having the animal seen in 3 days. On this aspect the breeder is correct. We should never have agreed to the ridiculous terms of the contract. What is even more terrible is she went back on her word and decided we could not get a refund, but still bring the cat back. It seems she enjoys making lots of money from cats but is less concerned about the health and wellbeing of these animals. If you choose to do business with this breeder and you do indeed adopt a cat, have an appointment made in advance and have the animal seen immediately. The breeder had so many animals confined to these relatively small areas. Our vet said the ear mites have probably been jumping from one cat to the next and over again for a long time. The breeder also said the bugs we found where the cat had been during the week were probably from our animals. The cat probably got ear mites from the animals we already have. The cat we adopted from this breeder did not even have shots up to date. The animals she cares for are not worth your money and you should not enter into an agreement with a breeder who does not take personal responsibility for her animals, yet still sells them for large amounts of money. The breeder blamed us for everything that happened after we adopted a cat from her and on only one aspect did she have any validation. We should have never agreed to the terms of her contract because it was impossible for us to meet them. Take caution, and take care. Hope this review helps future people make an educated choice.

The buyer is so wrong!

AUTHOR: Patty - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, March 26, 2015

I have known this breeder for many years and have been to her house numerous times and have also gotten cats from her. I can say that her cattery is one of the cleanest ones I have ever seen. Her pens are very spacious and have plenty of room for the cat in it. She takes excellent care of her cats and kittens. All responsible breeders have a contract for the buyer to sign and most of them give the buyer 72 hrs to take the cat/kitten to the vet and have it checked out. This is standard. Ear mites can be gotten from anywhere, and no, they don't jump from pet to humans! They are easily treated. Since you went to her house to pick up your cat, you would have seen how clean her place is. It wasn't cleaned just for your visit, it is this way all the time! Dawn is always straight up with any problems the cat/kitten might have, i.e. this one was shy. She also sends a copy of the contract before anyone comes to pick up, so you knew the terms and could have gotten an appt for the vet ahead of time.

If you say one more bad word about my cattery I will be forced to call my attorney, my cattery is not dirty, it is so clean you can eat off the floors in them, and I extend my invite to anyone that would like to come see that this person is not telling the truth and at this point it is deflamation on her part.

we are very happy to know that we are your last costumers. :-D

we have vet records for our other animals and they have never had ear mites or any other health issues because they have regular vet visits. Point blank... Your chattery is dirty. Glad to know you are retired.

So not true

as this customer post half are truths half are lies.  I invite anyone to come see my cats and judge for yourself, no ear mites in this cattery, and very clean.

when this person showed interest in this retired cat I told her the cat was very shy and it would take at least a month or two for her to come around.  This customer said this was fine as she had received another savannah from someone else and it took nearly a year to come around.  As with all my cats I have adoption agreements, in it it clearly states you must have the cat vet checked within 3 days/72 hours! if for any reason the cat is found to be unhealthy they can return it for a full refund.  She had plenty of time to get the cat vet checked as she picked the retired cat up on Tuesday, but didn't take to a vet until 8 days later.

this customer sent me her vet report, and the vet wrote that the cat was very healthy only problem was ear mites in one ear.  I can prove that as I saved the copies that the customer sent me from her vet.

If this cat had ears while she was here it most definitely would have been in both her ears not just one, concussion the cat got them sometime within the 8 days this customer got her.  There was no hair losesas the customer states when the cat left here.  This customer is so nieve that she actually told me she could see bugs jumping around her room, duh you can only see ear mites under a microscope, then she said she didn't want her kids to get them, duh again ear mites cannot be transferred to people.

earmites in cats or dogs are easily treatable now a days, I think this person just had buyers remorse and just wanted her money back, which I would have refunded as per agreement if she had the health exam within 3 days of receiving the cat.

this is the very first complaint I've had filed about me and I had been breeding for 17 years before retiring this year.

long story short buyers remorse, sorry it had to be my last customer.
