I was duped into signing up for a trial of the ancestry.co.uk site and stupidly gave all my credit card details.
Of course when the trial was over I was billed a full year's rate off my credit card for the amount of $160+ without any advance notification.
No doubt this company is acting within the letter of the law but in my view it is akin to moral deception if not moral theft.
It appears to be sneaky and underhanded and although I have written directly to them with a complaint I didn't even receive a response.
I have since seen other similar complaints about this company and I can only hope that this message warns others who might similarly be conned.
What a pity, it sounded like a great service but is obviously more interested in rip off sales than providing a service.
