bought a used car from ancira chev on 2/10/2008. when i bought the car they had to keep it for nine days to fix several problems before i would take possession of it so they had plenty of time to take care of these issues. first piece of advice is to check all areas of the contract very carefully before giving them any money. especially the extra charges.

first, they charged (snuck on) $97.50 for anti theft id, which is for etching serial number on window, etc, and logging it in national data base if your vehicle gets stolen. to me that is an optional item that should be discussed with the buyer and agreed to or not. but they don't say anything to you, just stick the charge on the invoice. even if it has already been done and logged in the data base, they try to charge you (sneak it by you). and even if you don't want it done they try to charge you. IS THIS AN HONEST AND TRUSTWORTHY ACTION?
it is now 6/27/2008, about five months after buying and last month i got a notice from the state that my state registration fee was due. without thinking i went down and purchased a new registration sticker. i don't drive very much and yesterday when i got ready to drive i took the new sticker out to replace the old one and then it hit me, the one on the vehicle was dated 05/08. when i bought the car they charged me for a new registration sticker and then notified me about a month later to come in and they installed the new sticker. i didn't even consider checking it out at the time, just assuming it was a yearly thing, but here i am three months later having to buy another new registration sticker. it takes plenty of gall to pull something like that off.
then when i was installing the new registration sticker i looked at the inspection sticker which they had also charged me for in february, and it was also due 05/08. so they charged me for a new inspection and didn't do it. and they had the nerve to charge $37.50 for it while the rate is suppose to be $14.50.

so what kind of crap is this. to me they are a bunch of crooks and untrustworthy cheaters. with the cronyism and bureaucracy like it is in the state of texas, i doubt i can get anything done but i am going to try to get the state involved in this. it should be against the law to charge for state registration and safety inspection and not do them.

my best reccomendation for purchase of a new or used car is gunn automotive, which i have purchased from several times with nothing but superior satisfaction.

WHY?

AUTHOR: Cory - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, September 05, 2008

IF you've had " nothing but superior satisfaction" from gunn, WHY would you go to ancira? They have a long history of ripping people off. They add $1,495 to the price of every new vehicle. It's just a load of BS. It includes that etching you talked about, window tint, pin striping, "paint protection", fabric protection" and a "tire protection plan". All of which is worth maybe a hundred dollars at most. A state inspection sticker on a new vehicle is $29 for 2 years, $14.50 on a used vehicle for 1 year. You're talking about a registration, (license plate) sticker which is different. They don't normally inspect a used vehicle for sale unless the sticker is gionna expire. It sounds like they charged you for it anyway. It sounds like they charged you for the registration(license plate) sticker, which they have to do. It's the same thing as sales tax but you should have gotten new plates AND a new sticker from the dealer at time of purchase. Run down to the tax office on Bandera with your paperwork and b***h to them. THEY'LL straighten out the registration mess and refund you any tax due, IF ANY.
