I went to another dentist recommended by my ins co (Dec 27, 2006) when I suddenly had a toothache and my own dentist was unavailable. I went to Monarch Dental where Andrew Davis,DDS, works. I have a lot of root canals, crowns, and posts in my upper, yet he ignored the xrays and shook my dentalwork with such force that he broke my #7 front tooth. He ran from the room at the pop sounds... came back still grinning... ready to schedule me for an intense cleaning costing out of pocket $1800 when I have really good coverage for all dental work!! he never mentioned the damage except for "don't worry, I'll give you a discount" still smiling. I told him "you broke it, you pay all of it".
He gave me an RX for the infection and their office scheduled me for the first part cleaning when I said I wanted another opinion and "what about the broken tooth Dr Davis broke?" The RX lowered my blood pressure to 58/38. I could get NO DOCTOR from this location to call and help me. I went to the Presbyterian Hosp ER really weak.
Over 12 hours later, released after a lot of IVs meds to counteract the RX damage. I went to another dentist for help, also a specialist for damage opinions. I called their 800-MONARCH hotline numerous times without any real solution, yet they were really nice only vague.
I finally called another of their locations, crying, telling them what had happened. They gave me the DistMgr name and number, Tim Newman. He played around for months, having me send proof, saying he was weeding out the phonies just trying to get free services or money! Their Corp office finally sent me a letter saying they were deciding how much liability they decided I should get.
This is 2008, I have yet to hear any more, nor get any money back. The State Board of Dental Examiners said they found no reason to bar him, but the company should be notified. My new dentist, who doesn't leave his practice without an on-call dentist, says he has several of their patients with the same type story and it will be a miracle to get ANY money from them. The tooth was damaged beyond repair as he broke BOTH POSTS made of Titanium and it has to be pulled now.
There was nothing wrong with this tooth when I went in and I got the xrays to prove it. Andrews made a singular xray, after breaking #7, that has told Corp that he did do what I said. I was told by the DistMgr, Tim Newman, not to email him again as it is out of his hands. They don't have much address on their letterhead and don't answer the phone in Richardson, Tx where the corp ofc is supposed to be located.
I cannot find an attorney to take the case because I'm told "it will cost more to pursue him than recovery will get" so I am out a tooth by an abusive nutcase shaking teeth to drum up business for himself. I am very unhappy about losing a good tooth... wouldn't you be too? He is not in our dental network as I told them what he did to me. Isn't there anything, except Small Claims Court, to tackle this dentist from hell? I went for help, not a new problem which nearly killed me!!

I appreciate the comments posted here. When patients are unhappy they post - all truth or not really makes no difference - the mere fact that this patient is unhappy with either the work or service provided is enough for most people. Providers should at least "attempt" to resolve the issue before it gets posted in areas like this. More of an effort on the part of Monarch and a direct response from the "other side" would have helped the reputation of this dentist. Our family is in need of a new dentist and will look elsewhere based on the information provided here. Again I appreciate the comments from all.

I am a patient of Dr. Davis

My family and I are all patients of Dr. Davis. I have to say that nothing in this report resembles the Dr. Davis we have come to know and trust after several years. He has never been derogatory, cursory, or hateful to any of us. I was introduced to Dr. Davis through friends who all see him on a regular basis and have never had a negative thing to say about him.
After reading this report, I actually did a little research and found that a complaint similar to this was filed with the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners. It turns out that the Board overturned the complaint after investigating the patient's story and finding it had no merit. Obviously, this institution has a duty to make sure that incompetent or abusive nutcase (as this patient put it) doctors do not lower the standard of their profession. I think their ruling speaks for itself.
I find it deplorable that this patient would still go onto this websitewhich is not a forum nor a place for equal representationand libel Dr. Davis as he/she did in this report. I know that I will continue to see Dr. Davis and his staff and will also not be afraid to take my family or recommend him to my friends and relatives.

Stop hiding behind legal mumbo jumbo and fix her tooth. Do what is right and what you would want if YOU were the patient. Why did he not answer? It is pretty simple fix here. Repair what he broke. It is called DOING the RIGHT THING.

Defending a good man and a good doctor

I am responding to the report/accusations made against Andrew Davis, D.D.S.
I have been in the dental field for over 20 years now, and have seen several "patients" such as the one who filed the report I suspect, who see any kind of doctor or corporation as a large pocket that they can fleece. They don't truly care about anyone else or the quality of their care, but rather what they can get out of these situations.
This is not only unfair and damaging to the involved doctors and/or businesses, but these costs carry over to all the rest of the consumers out there who now pay more for their care due to rising malpractice costs. Many "patients" don't realize the expense incurred for a care provider to defend themselves legally, even when it is simply answering to a state board complaint. Not to mention the stress involved, and the unfairly damaged reputation.
It is sadly legal that the internet can be used to anonymously damage such reputations, all without the burden of proof. It is sad that this can hang out in internet space, and doesn't have to be removed when found to be false. Where is the justice or defence of truth in that ?
It might be of interest to note that this particular "patient" filed such a state board complaint, which was investigated as dismissed as having no merit.
Speaking as someone who knows Dr Davis, I can honestly say that this is a man of integrity who cares deeply about the quality of care he provides. I am proud to say that I have worked with him, that I know him, and that he is the caregiver to all of my family.
