BUYER BEWARE - Angela's Bulldogs in Camby, IN sold us a bulldog puppy who was discovered by 3 separate NJ Vets to have a Level 3 Heart Murmur. Ms. Harbold at first said she was sympathetic and would refund some of the $2500 fee. A few days later, she wrote she wanted to come take the puppy back without refunding us, take him to her vet in IN and then decide to what would be refunded. After saying we did not think that was a good idea, since we had him seen by 3 different vets, she starting accusing us of not being able to afford to care for the pup and that we were in breach of contract and she would file charges against us. We are the owners of the dog and will never return him but others need to be warned that she gave us NO Health Certificate, says her vet did not give her a write up and must have missed this congenital heart defect. In all likelihood, she will be breeding again.

LET’S SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT!!!!!

AUTHOR: - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, April 07, 2015

LET’S SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT!!!!! Heart Murmur was confirmed via documentation from 3 highly reputable veterinarians in New Jersey and breeder committed to give fair refund!

READ THE FACTS BELOW:

My daughters and I watched this pup grow for a month, I started a relationship with Angie Harpold and developed a virtual bond with this baby.  Then my husband and I and two daughters took a week off from work to drive to Indiana to get him.  That is 725 miles, having to pay for gas, hotels and food for a week.  If I was trying to scam someone out of an English Bull Dog I assure you that I would have done it locally.

When we picked up the puppy we were handed a complete folder with all kinds of paperwork for him, his American Kennel Club transfer form, his microchip registration form and a dog vaccination chart, and his parent’s blood line record.  However, not included in the folder was a clean bill of health record from a Veterinary Hospital.

On January 2nd 2015 when we returned to NJ from IN I took the pup to our vet, which happens to be one of the top Veterinary Hospital in the Nation.  I received a Veterinary Certification of Unfitness, the vet said that he had a grade III/VI heart murmur which was loudest on the left side.  I called Angie at 5:00 PM that same day to fill her in on our Vet’s findings, after our phone conversation she sent me a text (which I can provide as proof) stating “I’m going to take his sister for another check up with a different vet just to double check her.”  On Jan 7, 2015 at 9:00 AM I emailed the Certification of Unfitness to Angie for her records.  At that time we discussed that we were going to watch and pray and hope that perhaps he would outgrow the murmur.

On January 9, 2015 the pup developed a bad cough, the cough lasted 15-20 minutes on some instances.  On Jan 13, 2015 I took him back to the vet however, I asked to see a different dr.  This the 2nd Dr. diagnosed him with a significant grade III/VI systolic murmur heard loudest on the left side.  At 8:59 PM I private messaged Angie on Facebook and advised of this the 2nd Dr’s findings, I told her that the Dr said that the cough could be the start of something or could be complications from the heart murmur.   I advised her that he was put on antibiotics and that I needed to monitor him.

At 9:16 PM Angie replied stating “If your vet says a level three then I do not expect it to go away at 15 weeks.  SHE then stated “It sounds like we should go ahead and discuss what we are going to do.”  SHE then said “I don’t see it changing in a few more weeks if they are hearing a level 3.”

SHE said “I can take him back and have our other vet confirm the murmur, she said “I will take him to a different vet and if they confirm it I will let the other vet know that I am not happy about him missing something like that and then credit you for another pup, first pick out of the next litter of equal value. SHE said, I wouldn’t normally do cash refund but if he has a murmur like that I feel it is fair to offer you a cash refund OR if you were to decide you want to keep him then I can give you a partial refund for him.”  SHE then said “talk it over with you husband and let me know what you think.”  If anyone would like to see documented PROOF of this communication I will be happy to provide.

My response “certainly know that I am not telling you all of this for money.  We love him so much, let’s take the antibiotics and see how he does then see about the murmur.”  Again, proof can be provided.

She replied “OH no…I don’t think that at all.  I really feel terrible for Dallas and you guys.  But a level 3 my vet should have noticed, and you guys traveled so far.”  Again, proof can be provided.

On Jan 17th 2015, after a few more episodes with the puppy up coughing through the night I took him to a 3rd vet and yet again confirmation grade III/VI heart murmur loudest on left side  The bill DOES identify Oodles of Doodles Rescue because I am on the board and this is the veterinary hospital the rescues uses.  As for her comment that the paperwork states “American Bulldog” big deal that document was typed by a PERSON in the vets office not by me.  Both of the other two vet reports clearly identifies English Bulldog, how come she makes no mention of those two reports.  As for taking Dallas to that vet, I was trying to save a buck and Oodles of Doodles gets a discount.  BIG DEAL, hadn’t I already spent LOTS of money, $2500 for the puppy, $2000 in travel expenses and almost $500 on veterinary expenses to this point.

On Jan 20th 2015 both of the last two records from each of the veterinary hospitals was emailed to Angie.  I verbally spoke with Angie on the phone and told her of our intentions to keep Dallas because he was part of our family and we loved him very much.  During this conversation Angie said that she would come up with a refund amount that was fair for both of us and get back to me in a day or so.

Then I didn’t hear from her until Jan 26th 2015, she private messaged me on Facebook advising that now she wanted me to take Dallas for an Ultrasound to yet again prove to her the validity of the heart murmur.

I messaged her back stating “her own vet missed it, and if she would like to pay for the ultrasound we will be more them happy to comply with her request.”  She then said “that if I don’t agree she will come and get him and refund me after her vet confirms”  I said “so you are going to come and get him and bring him back, because we already said that we want to keep him.” I then suggested “why don’t you then just come here and we can go together for the ultrasound.” She never one time answered my question about bringing him back to us which I asked numerous time (can provide proof) because several times I had advise her that we wanted to keep him.

On Jan 27th 2015 she yet again emailed me stating that she and her boyfriend were coming to get the puppy.  I texted her after I got her email on Jan 27th at 12:25 PM and asked if she was free to talk, she said I am at work now.  I sent you an email.  I told her that I got it and to let me know when she could talk, she said ok I can call you this evening.

As for Angela’s comment that she offered to send me the clean bill of health for when she got home from work – that is a complete LIE.  I texted her and said “prior to our conversation tonight, please forward me the clean bill of health record from her vet because it was not in his folder that she prepared.”  She said “I only have a receipt from the vet which I can send you when I get home”  I said that I want to see the written report where her vet states that he has a clean bill of health not just a simple receipt.”  She said “we don’t get written reports from the vet.  If there is an issue found he notes it, otherwise it’s a clean bill of health.”  Again, anyone wants to see proof of this conversation just ask.

Then she said “I am not going back and forth with you again, we are taking the pup back.  If you don’t give the pup back to us to confirm with our vet then no refund.”

At this point I just kept getting messages from her stating that she was coming to get him.  Under no circumstances was I going to allow my baby out of my site, position is 9/10’s of the law and since not one time could Angie answer my numerous questions “are you going to bring him back” I was not going to allow her to come and get him.  Yes it is true that I did get angry and annoyed at this point and cursed at her.  She repeatedly kept telling me via, text, email, private message that they were coming to get him.

My final text to her on Jan 27th 2015 stated “there is no clean bill of health report, you sold me a sick dog, if she where a legit breeder she would have that report.”  I said that I can only blame myself for trusting her and that I NEVER one time brought up money.  She was the one on January 9th that brought up giving me a full or partial refund.”  I then said “if you contact me again I am going to file harassment charges, I am the rightful owner of Dallas.”

Which at this point should have been the end of it and once again proves that my intentions were in no way around money as right there I am walking away from her and any kind of refund.

The on Jan 28th at 1:17 PM yet again a private message from Angie, stating “this is notification of null and void signed agreement.”

At 1:51 PM I replied (here is copy of my response) “For your information it is the guarantee that "supposedly" would be Null and Void not the entire contract. You were notified verbally and in writing by means of 3 different vet reports that Dallas has a heart murmur. In fact on January 13th you wrote and I quote" It sounds like we should go ahead and discuss what we are going to do. I don’t see it changing in a few more weeks if they are hearing a level 3. I can take him back and have our other vet confirm the murmur (I will take him to a different vet and if they hear it then I will be taking him to the one that already looked at him to let him know I am not happy about him missing something like that.) then credit you for another pup, first pick out of our next litter of equal value. I wouldn’t normally do cash refund but if he has a murmur like that I feel it is fair to offer cash refund. Or if you were to decide you want to keep him then I can give you a partial refund on him. Talk it over with your husband, think about and let me know what you think." I have advised you on numerous occasions verbally and in writing that Dallas is part of our family and we wanted to keep him and deal with his medical needs. During our last conversation on Dec 19 you completely understood and were going to come up with a discount that was fair for both of us. Now low and behold you cannot produce a "clean bill of health record" which you know that your vet should have caught a grade III heart murmur.  As I stated yesterday, I am the owner of Dallas, do not contact me again or I will be forced to take action..... Final Notice”

At no point in time did I or anyone else slander Angie Harpold, I simply stated the facts and just the facts exactly how they happened to me and my family.  In no way was I trying to SCAM Angela Harpold, I paid $2500 dollars for what I thought was a healthy happy English Bulldog that I had to drive 725 miles to pick up and I never not one time asked for anything.

SO ANSWER ME THIS, if I was trying to SCAM out her out of something how come on two occasions I completely walked away from all contact with her therefore eating all of the money that I spent on him, the trip to get him and all of the medial expenses that I have incurred thus far.   Angela comments in her rebuttal several times about a contact and adhering to the contract, funny how prior to January 26, 2015 on more than two occasions Angie was willing and even documented in writing to me that she would give me full or partial refund.

Now that you have all of the factual information, tell me who was ripped off?

If any individual would like to see any of the proof/documentation from these entire events please contact me at (((Redacted))) and I will be more than happy to share them with you.

So yes, BUYERS BEWARE when purchasing a dog from this or any other breeder, be sure that you are protected and be sure to SEE a CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH RECORD.  I do not want to see this happen to another family, please be cautious.

Seller made 3 attempts to refund once the defect was confirmed.

AUTHOR: Angela - (USA)

POSTED: Saturday, March 14, 2015

The family signed a contract that states in a case like this the pup will be returned to the seller and defect will be confirmed by the sellers vet.  When the defect was confirmed by the sellers vet then a full refund would be given.  I made 3 attempts to come get the pup to have my vet confirm (even though contract said returning would be at the buyer expense I was willing to go get him because I took the claim serious ).  They refused to allow me to get my vets confirmed proof as required by the contract they signed.  They did provided me a vet document that one stated the pup was a "foster" from Oodles pets rescue (which is owned by the buyers sister).  Vet document also shows the pup examined was an american bulldog.  The pup I sold them is full blooded English (very noticeable difference).  Had the family adhired to the contract and the defect was confirmed by my vet the they would have been refunded full price.   Again, I made THREE attempts to come get him to have it confirmed and was told to go F*** myself.   The pup was examined by my vet before purchase and he had a clean bill of health before leaving my home. I told the buyer I would send her the form from the vet when I got home from work however I was threatened and told to never contact them again before I could make it home that day.   Two sides to every story!!!   Sellers beware.... There are scammers everywhere that want to make claims to get money however refuse to honor the contract signed and allow the proof required.

This family/person did threaten of slandering me.. And was warned that I would file a legal suit if they did.  Sad it took this long to come to my attention, but thank you ripoff report for the proof of slander after I tried to abide to the contract signed!!
