I purchased United Automobile Insurance coverage from Angela's Insurance when I purchased my car on October 16, 2007. The coverage involved a $470 down payment with a $112.75 monthly premium. Dealing with this company and its associates has been a disaster ever since.

At the beginning of 2008, all Florida drivers needed Personally Injury Protection. So, I called the agency and asked to add it and the woman who answered who obviously spoke very little, if any English told me I already had it. I called numerous times between January 1st and January 28th attempting to add this coverage and was unable to convey to an entire office what steps I wanted to pursue.

On January 27th before purchasing new auto insurance, I called Angela's Insurance and asked what penalty there would be and what kind of refund I should expect and the woman who worked for Angela's Insurance clearly said that there would be no penalty and a full refund. On January 28th, I cancelled my policy with Angela's Insurance and purchased new coverage with State Farm (whom I may add has been a pleasure to work with).

I received paperwork from United Automobile Insurance stating that the coverage has been cancelled and I would be receiving a refund check in the mail within 14 days of my cancellation. I received the refund check on March 3, 2008 for only $55.75 (which was clearly more than 14 days later). As you can see by the numbers, is not even remotely close to the full refund I was told I would receive: $470 divided by 12 = $39.00 monthly compensation on top of the $112.75 I am already paying each month. Of the $470, I only used $117 ($39 x 3 months) to help compensate my monthly premium, leaving $353 unused. Also, when I cancelled my policy, I had already paid the $112.75 for the next 30 days coverage but only used two weeks worth of the coverage. Meaning, $112.75/2=$56.38 which is probably where the $55.75 came from. But with the employees of this agency, who knows.

I have called numerous times inquiring about the remaining $350 and have been given the go around over and over again. Sometimes the person who answers can't speak English and puts me on hold for fifteen minutes until I hang up and call back and sometimes they even hang up on me when they realize I don't speak Spanish. They tell me to call United Auto Insurance each and every time (I've spoken with United and they have been a joy to work with, very knowledgeable and insightful). Once, when I called they told me that I wasn't the policy holder and that it was in my son's name - This was after I had been on the phone with them for over 20 minutes and they had tried every other avenue to get me off the phone. When I told them that I don't have offspring they said it must be my husband (I'm not married!). They told me that I had to come with whoever had their name on the policy. I continued to tell them that I had no idea whose name it could be in and therefore could not bring that person in with me to their establishment. When I finally got Angela (the woman whom I was speaking to on this particular call) to admit that she had no idea what she was talking about and that the policy was indeed in my name, she went back to the run around about calling United.

I've spoken with United time and time again and each time they explain to me that Angela's Insurance still needs to cancel the policy with United Premium Finance. I have called the agency looking for Angela (the only one who can actually understand English) and they always tell me that she is not in and they don't know when she will be back.

They have lied to me, they have manipulated me, they have wasted my time and energy and they are truly ripping me off. All I am truly seeking is what they themselves told me I would receive: A full refund with no penalty.
