Apartments Near Campus This company preys on struggling college students by charging huge deposits and not returning them Iowa City Iowa

I helped my son and his roommate rent an apartment for last school year. We paid first and last month's rent and a $1200 deposit. 

Our kids moved out July 8th and 13th. We left the apartment in perfect condition. We notified them the kids were out and the apartment was ready to rent. It is now August 24th and we have yet to receive a statement or deposit refund. I called 8 times, only to hear the same line, It is sent out within 30 days. Well now it has been 40. I informed them today I am seeking legal counsel. I found out there is a class action against the company, and if you fill out a form and they don't take care of it within 10 days they provide legal assistance for you free. After I submitted the form I got a canned email repeating the same mantra and telling me sometimes the USPS has delays. I'm pretty sure if I can drive to Iowa City in an hour and a half the postal service can get a letter here in less than a week, so we're past the postal service delay excuse.
