Very disappointed. Sales person rarely calls me back, Service doesn't hold up to their appointments and windows are not installed correctly. HORRIBLE
We were initially told that our windows would be installed before Christmas 2010. They weren't installed until February because of numerous reasons. Because we wanted the tax credit, we authorized them to start billing us for the windows right away, and they said that we should still see our windows installed before the end of the year at that point... didn't happen. when our windows did finally get installed, there were issues with them and our wood frame by our kitchen window had been damaged by installation. We were told at that time that someone would come out soon to make the repairs. No one called us for months and my calls went unanswered by the sales person. Then, this spring when it was finally time to actually start using our windows we noticed that some of them didn't shut properly to the seal would be tight. It took over a month for someone to come and inspect our windows. the person, Jeremy, whom they have now fired, (and who had no reason not to be honest) said that he was so frustrated with the installation crew from APEX because he has seen more windows not installed correctly from them and he's "tired of fixing their mistakes". At this point, I don't blame him for feeling that way - I was a little shocked that he was so blatent of his feelings for his employer at the time, but I felt that he was the first person to actually be honest with me and just give it to me like it was. He said that he didnt' think he'd be there much longer and that he would call me shortly to have the windows fixed. I never heard back from him.
A week later, a man named Joe called me and he said he was with Alside service (he was really from A Group Construction). He wanted to set an appointment with me to come and fix our windows. We set a time for 8:30am on 8/4/11. He never showed up. I saw on the house phone which we rarely use, that I had missed a call at 7:30ish (I had told him that and given him my cell #, which he never called). I called it back and it was Joe. I asked him where he was and He said he needed to reschedule. No reason... just needed to cancel our appt. I told him that an hour notice is not acceptable and he said, "Lady, i gave you an hour notice, what more do you want?" After I asked for his boss' name and number, he hung up on me.
At this point I called our sales rep with the company, Tracy Schneider (who has since called me back). I called Joe back, but hiscowardice stopped him from answering his phone. He did eventually call me back, but was so cocky and threw so much attitude at me, I ended the call. I called Curt Collar, the co-owner and managing partner and spoke with him. Jim from Service has called me and set up a time to come out.
The reason why I am still submitting this even though action has been taken this morning and I dont' have a lot of faith that anything will actually be done about it. We've been having issues from the get go. Until the windows are repaired/reinstalled/fixed, etc. this issue will loom.
If you're looking at getting windows installed in your home, you might want to call a different company... these guys will give you nothing but headaches and stress and waste your time.

Apex Energy Solutions Takes Great Care in Handling Complaint
AUTHOR: Paula S - (United States of America)
SUBMITTED: Friday, September 30, 2011
We've all been there...upset, ticked off, and/or disappointed in a company that let us down. On the day that I wrote my complaint, I was - and more. However, after it is all said and done, Apex pulled through and left no sour taste in my mouth. They lifted the black veil up that covered them and shone some real light on what had happened with our situation. My last line of my last report said that I posted my complaint in the first place because I didn't think they would pull through. Well, they did. Here's my rebuttal, and one that I am happy to write.
Curt Collar, co-owner of Apex, took real charge and contacted me directly. He, his service manager (Jim), and both installers that worked on our home made an appointment to come by and talk about our situation and take a look at some of the issues we were having with our windows.
In defense of them, it was realized that the whole issue really could have been avoided if either my husband and I had communicated better - or they had called me instead of him (as was asked) to begin with. His name was on the agreement, so they had kept calling him - and my husband is - well, he sucks at answering his phone. This is a very big reason why things took as long as they did.
Because of what happened with us and our plight, Apex has changed some of the ways they do things and have added new checks and balances to an order and are more careful to call the primary contact - not just the person who's name appears on the agreement.
So, as promised, the team came over to our house. A productive discussion was had and issues WERE resolved. We all wish the situation would've never happened. They fixed two of our windows on the spot and an appt. was set to have our kitchen window fixed. Mr. Collar went above and beyond about this - and had our entire kitchen window replaced, and all the wood (that had been damaged) around it to all match. We are delighted with the way it turned out and now we wish we would have ordered the trim around all the replacement windows to match!
The installer that came to fix our kitchen window was very professional, on-time and laid sheets down everywhere that he might be walking. On the first attempt to replace it, he noticed there was an issue that would be "not such a quick fix as was originally thought", and he needed to reschedule. I was very worried at this point, hoping that what had happened before would not happen again. It didn't.
This time, since everything had been cleared up - the communication was awesome. They were calling me (very important) and taking me down every step of the process.
Shortly before we had our kitchen window fixed, we noticed a hairline crack that must have appeared after the original install (because we hadn't noticed it before) and I called in to let them know. That window was also quickly replaced and the communication with Apex was great.
Curt Collar took the extra step after all this and came to our home again to make sure that everything was ok and that we were happy. This man really does care and you could see and hear it.
No one likes to get bad service or have a bad experience with a company and it was good to see that the team at Apex didn't like to give it either and turned a bad experience into a positive one.
I did take a look at the Apex's (in Burnsville) Facebook page during this whole fiasco and realized that so many people had had great experiences. In the beginning, we weren't so lucky, and we understand that well, Sh*t happens all the time and in all types of jobs. We were just the ones that "got lucky" I guess. It has taught everyone in the story a valuable lesson.
Now, this may sound crazy, but after it is all said and done, if Apex continues to work with us like they did in the end, we will actually consider them to redo the rest of our windows in the house! After all, they know which one of us to call now.
