Around January 26,2013 I received a call from a male, identifying himself as John M Gaffney from investment choices in Raleigh NC. He claimed to be an agent representing client for a large corp that was buying up vacation weeks in Mx to give as perks for clients. How faxed purchase offer for $32,500. Fo week at Mayan palace in puerto vilorta Mx. A male , mr mike porter, claimed to be a lawyer went over contract with me on phone. My husband and I signed it and faxed back.
a ms Michele Martin , claiming to be escrow officer from Apex Title $ Escrow Llc, located in New York, NY. She said she was in charge of holding money in a trust from corp to purchase 21 timeshare vacation weeks. I was to wire transfer money to bank in Mx city where trust was being held . This was to cover, assignment fee and payoff balance to Mayan . So began the trail of wire transfers from our neighborhood Chase Bank. , with each request for 7% commission, 19% tax , excise tax! foreign transaction fee to bank , all with fees came to $39,000. of all the cash on hand and IRA retirement funds, leaving two disabled seniors in financial ruin. I am legally blind and caregiver for my husband of 53 yrs with dementia. That's the overpowering reason we wished to sell the wk. travel too difficult.
after I sent last payment and then a mr. David, who took over as Executive of investment choices , after john Gaffney was in an accident ( sic) , I called as was told money would be sent from apex by a Bryan Palmer accountant at Apex title , that money would be transferred to our bank within 24 -48 hrs. Well , both phones at companies went to automated message. this was a very organized scam . What is so disheartening , is no one will thoroughly investigate. I contacted every gov agency , filed complaints, even the FBI rep from chicago came to our home , took report, made copies of all paperwork , returned it and didn't investigate . Not enough money was stolen from us.

Mayan Palace Timeshare Scam
AUTHOR: BetzabethT - ()

Mayan Palace sales tactics are hardcore and they will tell you anything you want to hear to get you into the contract and keep you in contract with them. It is too common for the sales representative to offer you an upgrade if you already own a timeshare with them. Most of the Mayan Palace Timeshare Scam being committed by the Sales representative is that they don’t let their buyers know they have a 5 days cooling period if they wish to cancel; instead, they repeatedly tell they buyers once the contract is being sign there is no cancellation period.
