My daughter contacted Apollo Van Lines to move her from New York to Chicago. The first thing they did was to quote her a low estimate over the phone, then once they had loaded and locked the truck, told her she had more than she said she had and charged her double the estimated amount. She was also told it would be 7-9 days for delivery. When we called to confirm the delivery date, we were consistently told the delivery would be in a few days, the beginning of next week, etc. etc. Thery also gave stories about the truck breaking down.

Is anyone currently going through this? They just informed us that the truck was in an accident and all my daughter's belongings have been lost or destroyed. We can get no information from them as to where her belongings are being stored or where the accident occured. They picked up her belongings on June 23rd, and here it is the middle of August and we have nothing.

They will give no information to us when we call, they just say they will call us back in ten minutes and never do. If anyone else is in this same situation, we need to take action NOW@- please contact me if you are able.

If anyone is having trouble with Apollo Van Lines, please report them to the USDOT and NMCSA, Consumer Affairs, the Better Business Bureau, the NY Attorney General, and if you are moving out of state, the NY FBI. This has got to stop!

Inaccuracy withthe details of the accident

AUTHOR: Adam - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, April 08, 2008

Beign that the customer has not posted their full name, I am only 95% sure about this job. However I am very confident about this because only one accident did occur this past summer and it did involve a trailer heading to the Illinois area.

I was indeed the estimator with this job and this was never an over phone quote. This quote was done in person and yes the price did increase but far from double. The quote went up due to some additional boxes that the customer expressed she would like to take- again far from double. We expressed that she can leave the additional boxes behind, so that the price would remain the same, but she refussed. The accident occured with this tractor trailer rendering it a toal loss, and may I emphasize that to my knowldege, an accident of this nature has only occured once, maybe twice since our opening in 1995. Making it less than 1% of the thousands of long distance moves we have conducted since then.

In regards to the accident, it was indeed a tragedy and if we were able to avoisd it, obviosly we would. The customer was made aware of this as soon as it occured. They were kept updated every step of the way. The moment we received an update form the authorities , so did the customer. On top of this , although it took a while, the customer recieved a check from our insurance company covering the damages that were incurred.

Given the industry we are in , like any industry for that matter , while things are in transit there is a slight chance of an accident occuring. The customer was treated extremely fair and well in this tough time.

If any customer has any questions or concerns about this claim or any other , please do not hesitate to contact me at anytime.
