I bought an Apple iPhone in November, and generally loved it until May, when the screen shattered after falling a foot onto a patio.
I set up a repair online using Apple's webiste and in a few days apple sent me an envelope containing a dock, i obviously didn't need a dock but they sent a return envelope and it said to return any non-functioning parts, so i put the iPhone in the envelope.
Obivous right?
So, now a week later, I'm still waiting for the return of my fixed iphone, so I call apple today and they have no record of ever getting the phone and tell me to call DHL, I call DHL, of course they have no record and tell me to call Apple or the US Post Office.
Apple sent me envelope, they said to put broken parts in the envelope, and now they are like, well you can buy a new iphone!!
Thanks for nothing Apple!

I've Always had great customer service with all my apple products. My sister dropped her iphone 3 days after she got it. It Busted the dock connection pretty bad. She sent it in on a Monday and got it back on a Wednesday. This was shortly after the launch of iphone v2. Great service

Apple's policy stipulates that they will not repair items that may have been broken due to "accidental damage". This includes dropping the item, the item getting wet, or the item being stolen. The glass on the iPhone is a part of the touch screen which is internally a part of the computer board, so when you say that apple sent you an envelope containing broken parts, they meant the whole phone. And as far as apple is concerned, it is not worth the man hours to fix your phone, they will just send you a replacement.
So, from here, there are two things that could've happened. You could've either a) given incorrect information to apple when describing your issue, or b) you are a liar.
I am more inclined to believe the latter.
