Appliance Best Buys --Bait and Switch on Shipping Charges! Indianapolis, Indiana

I ordered a portable dishwasher from ApplianceBestBuys.com last week. They had a good price and showed "free shipping" as part of the deal. I double checked the final page as I was checking out, and verified that the shipping charge was ZERO.

A couple of days later, I called them because I hadn't received notification of shipment. Their toll-free number had no live person answering. Every extension I tried was unmanned during standard business hours. I left a message, and a day or two later I got a call saying they would ship my dishwasher the following week. That would be this week. Instead, I received this email from them today:

"Hello M___, Thank you for shopping with Appliance Best Buys. After negotiating with our various shipping agents we have obtained a shipping cost of $154.00 to ship your item from our warehouse to your shipping address. Your original shipping estimate was for $0.00 so you will only need to authorize the difference of $154.00 to your account in order for us to process your order. Please confirm the additional authorization at your earliest convenience so we may process and ship this item out as soon as possible. Furthermore please note that your order has not been charged and no order is ever charged until the item is shipped so you may terminate this transaction at anytime with no penalty or surcharge. Feel free to contact us at any time should you have any questions or concerns. Best, Customer Service Department."

That's right: Instead of FREE shipping, they say I "ONLY" have to pay $154 more to get my order processed! Of course I called them immediately, and AGAIN, they had no humans available to answer my call. Not only that, but their customer service's voice mail box was too full to receive any messages!

I am cancelling my order, needless to say.
