As another person has written on this site, I completely agree. This company is a total ripoff. They claim to find mentors at recording studios or in my case with digital film editors to help you get into the business. I was given nothing by this company. For fieight thousand dollars I got two false leads, both recent graduates working out of their house.

Before pulling out of this scam, the company refund policy claimed that the money was refundable as long as a mentor wasn't accepted. When I informed Mr. Trout of my decision, I was ignored until I contacted the better business bureau.

He then gave me the run around, changed the refund policy, and lied This company will appear somewhat shady when you first notice it, but when you really want something, you may let your guard down.

Don't let it happen with this scumbag. He will do nothing more then take your money and give you bullshit leads. This company is worthless. Looking back, I know I could have went to a studio myself and worked out a deal, rather then pay this a*****e to give me two bogus leads and then change the refund policy when I realized it was worthless.

They got me a job

AUTHOR: Rebecca - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, March 05, 2011

He contacted me after I inquired about this in 2001. I sent him $250 in April, and didn't hear from anyone until June but I was mentored by a DJ named Ricky Rhodes at WZZK. I sent the remainder of the fee for the broadcasting school and Ricky and I went through the program. It was a rocky road as Ricky got let go from WZZK and ended up at another station, where we had to sort of clandestinely finish my training, but we did. No guarantees about a job were made, ever. But that got my foot in the door. I was offered a board-operator's position one day/week. This is an opportunistic business, and you have to jump on any opportunities that make present themselves. I did this on October 21st, when we were supposed to get a Freedom concert, but didn't. I got to be the DJ for that night, which helped me land a job at another station for a year before coming back to WZZK for weekends. The money is for the school. They never made me any guarantees of a job, but if you take advantage of getting your foot in that door and prove yourself, you'll get in. This is not a ripoff.

I graduated from The Apprentice-Mentor Association

AUTHOR: Sergio - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 01, 2009

I felt compled to post a rebuttal on behalf of the Apprentice-Mentor Association and Philip Trout. I was completely appauled that some of you had the experiences you had! I have to admit that this program was unorthodox! I was in the Radio Program. It took me a very long time to complete. Mostly because of Mentors not finishing grading assignments or being fired. I was placed in 3 radio stations over my course and I got one hell of an education! It took me almost 4 years to complete because of issues I had with different mentors but Philip was always helpful and gave me great advice in my career.

This program puts you in a place where you have to "show-off" to land a job. Learn quickly and be the star intern! I now have a successful career in radio because of the program. I am a Sales and Marketing executve for a talk radio station, I also board op and do on-air work. My landing this job was because of my real world experience from the program and my drive and determination. The program didn't get my a job, and there was alot of problems with mentors but I stuck with it and he helped me find the right people and complete the course with flying colors!

It sounds like the unrealiablity of the mentors which I encountered from the program and inpatience led alot of prospective students to having the problems they did, and also unfortantley Philip sounds like he couldn't keep the business going under the conditions. I have no regrets, I now went back to school to get a bachelors in entertainment business online from Full Sail University. Philip advised me not to as it was so expensive and my experience would land me jobs. He was right but I will land even better job with both!

I already get jobs that require a bachelors but I am a top canditate for these jobs because of my experience from the program. I found this website searching for Philip. I tried calling him, I stayed in contact over the years telling my progress from career and asking him advice along the way. It's upsetting things didn't workout for you guys, and him. I would love to tell him how well I'm doing now. I hope he reads this and know at least I reaped the benefits of this program. I even have a certificate of completion!

I just wanted to tell my point of view.

Sincerely,

Sergio Santana

get a mentor rebuttal

AUTHOR: Mike - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, October 28, 2006

phillip trout has agreed to a partial refund of less than half of the 8000 dollars paid to his company. he has agreed to paying back 250.00 a month over 14 months.

also, the people i met as potential mentors, though unsure how the program would work themselves, were skilled and friendly people. i would advise all interested in this program to chek the better business bureau before proceeding -just to be fully informed
