Aquaholics Jowen Sapiano Costa Rica Fishing Horrible Fishing experience Con man Unsafe boating NO FISHING KNOWLEDGE Puenta Rena Costa Rica

We planned a trip to Costa Rica with dreams of sailfish, Mahi and Rooster fish due to all the reports online of great catches at the current time. We had a contact down there for the fishing that we were interested in doing because one of us was being pitched by the captain to send him a boat down and he would run it and provide a monthly income off the working vessel. This was all the beggining of an elaborate plot to scam a few pepole into getting a free boat down there. We Have a party of four to head out on this charter he insists we take two vessels for this a 25ft trophy walkaround more than ample for fishing four but he insisted in bringing his 17ft montauk out as well on a blue water adventure never a good idea with 2-3ft swells EVER!! Especially with a 69yr old man that he put on the 17ft boat so he could continue to pitch his scam on sending him a boat down, he covers duties put the boat in his name to get it in the country etc etc.Red flags all over the place. Granted I myself as well as two others all scowered this 17ft boat for life jackets and coast guard gear nothing!!! We are all Boaters and in the industry some on board fishing are tournament fisherman in the states and know how to run a boat and run tackle and spreads This crew and captain know very very little when comming to offshore blue water fishing. One deck hand had some knowledge David but he was to busy being abused by the captain's over the top demands and rants. We head out pounding all the way out hoping that we would be able to get on some fish but unfortunately we all knew we were in trouble when we realized they did not know what they were really doing out there. We started by running skirts with no ballyhoo just the skirt and a hook running so slow to slow. Not to get in a fishing lesson here on what should be done just stating that they were clueless as to really getting on quality fish. Nothing but tangled lines and running right threw the middle of the debris slick's not one side or the other right threw it to grab debris on your rigs so you can hear the the drag zip out on trash and boards so he call yell out "wow you missed it you didn't see that sailfish jump" what a joke never a sailfish just debris on lines then we troll near the other boat where the trolling lines went over the other boat and nearly snagged an angler in the face with a nice fat hook Gotta love that scars are just great memories you know!! First day Bunk we get skunked for the day imagine that and one guy hooked up a small schoolie dolphin when they finally dropped a swimming ballyhoo. The next day we are all resiliant to want to waste another day on our trip with quite obviously an inexperienced fisherman and crew but since one of us was talking business with Jowen Sapiano about his fraudulent boat scam that sounded so promising pay 20k for a boat send it to port he covered duties and shipping which according to him equated to the 20k of the boat and he would have it put in is name to be able to take it out of port he would work it and make 15k a month which would be split and send back to the states as income 7500 a month on a 20k investment all sounds so great especailly with all the added touches that he put along with it. First problem you have to know how to fish to own a fishing charter business he knows very little when it comes to offshore fishing to make money and maintain a repeat and refferal business you have to have a clue. Second day we head out again another day of pitching on getting the boat sent down to him non stop hustler working his hustle. Again NO fish this time but he decides that he is going to take us out waste our day on a B.S boat ride wouldn't even consider it fishing. I could get very in depth as to all he was doing wrong but thats not what i am writing this for his skills at fishing are non existent. Lets ad that on the second day one of the guys on board spot some fish skipping on the top so he asks to put on a lure and throw at them he gets on the front to have a chance at throwing at them he moves the boat over to the fish and slam it out of gear toss's one of our guys right over the bow rail and run him over with the boat very very lucky he pushed off the bottom when he was under water and barely missed being struck by the prop but his big concern was that the guy didn't drop his fishing pole not that he almost killed someone due to poor boating conduct. Uncalled for and
un professional!! Then to ad to all this this guy Jowen Sapiano was nickle and dimming us all the way down the line never has money on him at the restaurants breakfast lunch and dinner we picked up the tab "hey I maybe could get some extra gas money from you guy's" when on his site transportation is included don't worry he will ask for some extra gas money then he takes us to a restaurant I am almost certain he had a kick back from it was our most expensive meal and we provided the main course bringing the one fish we had. Funny stuff!!! On the way home from the second day we are over it and ready to get away we prepare for a truck ride home when Jowen passes a bus on a bridge and gets pulled over by the police he begins acting very frantic yelling for us to provide him with money to payoff the police we wonder why he is franticlly asking all of us for money to payoff the cop he grabs $100 dollars from one of us and hands it to the cop to get out of his infraction and then tells us thats how it is and he didn't want to deal with them and the whole process. Expecting us to pay for his traffic infraction was ridiculious but he did not have a problem asking us for money to handle it because he never had any money.After two days of fast talking and hustling us on his business proposition we go back and all start discussing inconsistences that he had in his proposition. This all was alot to absorb so we jump on a computer to google this guy to see what come up and a slew of Cons and Scams came up from trading Scams to Scuba scams reports of dive gear stolen from students all kinds of stuff Then all the pieces started coming together he had talked some guys into sending down a boat to him to make these great returns but before we were even home the guys who had already bought the boat from us to send down to him was calling franticly to make sure that we wouldn't send the boat because he had just found out his scammer history of Fraud and Scams Google "Jowen Sapaino" and see for yourself he claimed to be a airline pilot for american airlines , retired military commander Stanford graduate maybe he is but all that I have found out just really doesn't make any sense about him The conclusion that I have come up with is that he Isn't who he claims to be DEFINATELY CANNOT FISH and is a smooth talking CON MAN I have posted this so no one will waste any time on one of this 1k dollar fishing trips that are a joke don't waste your money there are plenty of organized real fisherman in Costa to hire we checked with some other tourists we met and they all boated 5 or 6 sailfish and loaded the mahi on the same days we went we got bamboozled. Do not get convinced to invest with this guy in any business venture he has proven himself as a swindler and con man on many levels. Stay clear many people were really close to getting taken by him on our trip thank goodness for google information. He is from Santa Barbara California where you can research him some more where he has many problems with scams there as well he also has ties to Miami as well protect yourself and stay clear of this man and his affiliates.
