For the third time within a year, this AM PM gas station quick pay service has screwed me over. The first two times I deposited a ten dollar bill, and only pumped 5 dollars in gas, but when I went to the service window to request my change I was told that I had no change.

But this time being the trusting honest joe that I am I put in a twenty, and only pumped five dollars and one cent. The penny was an accident, and I didn't want a lot of change in my pocket and I didn't have any change in my pocket, so I spent about ten minutes looking on the floor of my SUV and under the seats for a penny, so that when I went to the window I could give them the penny and get 15 dollars in bills instead of 14.99. But as those thieves there usually do, they told me that I had no change coming to me, which really pissed me off. No matter what I said to them they just looked at me like I was trying to steal something from them. Fat Chance.

I was given a number to call during the day, to speak to the owner, but I have done that before, and he lies and says that everything with his register balances. The clerk at the counter showed me a receipt from pump number 8 which I had just used with a total of .01 cents pumped and no change owed. That is completely impossible, because the quick pay does not take coins.
I work 2 jobs to make a living, and gas is too expensive these days to just give my last twenty dollars away to some low life con-artist. Because of my schedule these incidences have always happened around midnight or a little later. Someone needs to do something about these Frauds.

IMPORTANT PHONE NUMBER to reach Arco people REAL FAST, (800) 272-6349

AUTHOR: Ana - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, January 28, 2008

An ARCO clerk gave me this number, possibly by mistake and it goes to a menu that I think is normally reserved for ARCO employees.

When you call this number you don't end up speaking to people who don't give a d**n and you definately aren't stuck talking to someone who will loose money if you get what you deserve, (like the station owner).

Give this number to everyone you know who's been ripped off at an Arco store

Why use quickpay if your're going to need change?

AUTHOR: Mike - (U.S.A.)

When you don't have the exact bill for the amount of gas you want, you're going to have to visit the cashier anyway. It would be quicker to go to the cashier first and prepay for gas, get your change, then pump the gas into your car and leave. The quickpay machine saves time only if you don't need change.

Remember 2003, when you could put $5.00 worth of gas in your car and actually go somewhere?

#1 UPDATE Employee

AMPM EX-employee gives her info

AUTHOR: Heidi - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, January 17, 2007

As an ex employee of an AMPM I had been told to do countless unethical things. But I think I may know what happend to your money. When you put money in those machines, it shows on the register that someone is using that particular pump (shows on the register with an * below the pump number). Now, being that it happend around midnight or a little later, it gets tricky. The reconciliation for that day is done around midnight or a little later. If someone wanted to be dishonest, they could pay out the transaction (before you have a chance to come in the store) and say, "no change". Especially if there are 2 people on shift. One could pay it out without the other knowing about it. Sometimes it takes a while before showing the actual transaction on BOTH registers. Once the end of day is done, you cannot go back and look at the previous day's gas pumping transactions individually, just as a whole. Everything would balance out correctly, because someone pocketed your change. I'm sorry this happend to you. But I guess nowadays, unfortunatly, it's a common occurence.
