I purchased a prepaid online "Deal" for ASAP Spotless services, which was advertised as follows:

"This Exterior House Washing Includes:

  • Exterior pressure cleaning for homes or small businesses up to 2,500 square feet
  • Pressure cleaning may also be applied toward decks, driveway, sidewalks and patios"

Other reviewers on the site where I purchased this deal seem to have received the full value of the coupon, stating that their homes AND decks and usually their walkways were powerwashed. But on the day of the appointment, ASAP Spotless showed up 2 hours late in the morning (I was supposedly the first appointment that day), then claimed that the coupon for 2500 sq. feet wouldn't cover anything more than my 1350 sq. foot house!

I fully expected that the Deal certificate was going to cover the house and small 10 x 10 deck at a minimum, and maybe if I was lucky, the driveway. When I told the workers about this (house is #1, deck #2, driveway and walkways #3 in priority), they all looked at each other and spoke in Spanish before answering me. They asked if I had bought the deal online at and again spoke to each other in Spanish. Then they said they would "measure the house and see". A few minutes later they came back to the door and said the Deal coupon wasn't going to cover anything except the house, even though the Deal said it would cover 2,500 square ft and the house is only 1350 sq. feet.

They rushed through the job and then packed the truck up completely and backed into the cul-de-sac, ready to leave, before having one guy come to the dor to let me know they were done. It didn't seem to matter if I was happy with the job or not. They were clearly ready to go and unwilling to do anything else that day.

I prepaid almost $300 for this service and received maybe $125 - $150 worth of pressure washing, and even that wasn't done well. They had my money already, so they did the bare minimum and left. I will never use them again.

I took pictures of my so-called spotless house after they left. It shows mildew on the back foundation, dirty windows, grimy window sills and sloppy work on the front walkway from washing the doormats. Awful.

MAY!!!

AUTHOR: Tyg - ()

POSTED: Saturday, August 24, 2013

Its a big word there MAY. It MAY apply towards power washing decks. Im betting the reason they used MAY is that those poor guys MIGHT actually get a tip. Given what you just posted, I can safely assume that you DEMANDED that they do your walkways and when they said no you stormed around with a attitude. Probably slamming around your own house in order to show your displeasure. I can guarentee that had you approached them in a different way you not only would have gotten extra work out of them but also a satisfactory job. For them to act as you have accused them, YOU had some part in it. First maybe next time dont fall for a "online" deal.

Second try and have some pity on these poor workers. More often then not they get paid minimum wage or less. Sometimes a lot less if they are illegally in the country. Yes you purchased a service, but the workers ARE NOT your pesonal robots or slaves. They are ppl too. Just because you paid for something doesnt give you the right to treat them any less then human. From your own posts I get the undertone that you just dont like spanish speaking ppl. There is a HEAVY undertone that you dont like them. Maybe treat them better in the future. You never know, next time YOU cold be the poor ba*tard that has to do menial work for pennies just to support a family.

Blaming the "victim"?

AUTHOR: DebC in Raleigh NC - ()

POSTED: Friday, August 23, 2013

I put the word "victim" in quotes because I'm not trying to add unnecessary drama to the tone of this post. But I must say that the rebuttal that was posted here (by someone who wasn't involved in any way in the situation...why?) sounds an awful lot like blaming me, the consumer, for being ripped off by the vendor.

Your post sounds a lot like a man who tells a woman who's been raped "Well, you must have been asking for it in some way, or they wouldn't have done that to you." Surely the workers would never have done a less than professional job unless I "deserved" it, right? Surely the workers and the company would have done a fabulous job unless I was somehow to blame for their poor service, right?

That certainly seems to be the rebutter's opinion.

Facinating. But wrong.

The rebutter must have some personal experience doing this type of job and therefore took my Ripoff Report extremely personally. I'm sorry if you have had first hand negative expereinces with people treating you like a robot, slave or servant. But no, that's not how I treated any of the ASAP Spotless workers, nor would I. And no, I didn't treat them disrespectfully, nor yell at them, nor slam things, nor argue with them. My displeasure wasn't expressed in any sort of childish tantrum as you so vividly imagine. No, my displeasure is being expressed right here, on the internet, in a public forum, in a calm and rational manner.

You're right that the workers sent by ASAP Spotless are doing a labor intensive, difficult and messy job in the summer heat. It's a job they chose to do in exchange for money, and one I chose to pay for someone else to do, rather than do it myself. That's why ASAP Spotless is in business in the first place, right?

Just because it's a messy, unpleasant thing to do, that doesn't excuse a company for doing less than a professional job, nor does it excuse doing less than the full and complete amount of work that was paid for.

I'll recap a few facts that were conveniently ignored in the rebuttal post:

  1. The prepaid certificate I purchased for $289 was for 2500 square feet of powerwashing, in any combination of house, deck or walkway the customer requested, per the vendor's written sales description online.
  2. The amount of cleaning that was actually provided to me for that price was only 1350 sq. feet, over 1000 sq. feet LESS than I PAID for.
  3. The quality of the work was sub-par, as evidenced by multiple dirty areas remaining on the house, clearly shown in the photos above.
  4. The workers assigned to clean the home showed up 2 hours late and appeared to rush through the job and then completely packed up before alerting me they were finished, let alone asking if I was satisfied with the work.

I filed a Ripoff Report online because yes, in light of these FACTS, I feel ripped off. And I think others who are considering doing business with ASAP Spotless through one of their online "deals" have a right to know to be cautious. This vendor does have an overall good reputation online, or I never would have hired them to begin with myself. So my only assumption must be that when a customer isn't paying until after the job is complete and inspected (instead of prepaying, as I did), ASAP Spotless must care a whole lot more about doing a complete and quality job.

For someone who wasn't in any way involved in the situation to respond with a rebuttal seems odd to me, but apparently this struck a personal chord with you. However, claiming that a vendor's failure to deliver what I paid for was ok because I "must have deserved it" is appalling and childish. Especially when I have clear facts and photos to document exactly what was done (or should I say, not done).
