Aspen roofing's representative told my husband that they would repair our roof for what the insurance company would pay. No out of pocket money. After the work was done, we were hounded by this representative for an additional cost of $1,043! The amount that the insurance didn't cover. We would have not hired this company had we known they would not take what the insurance co would pay! The work was ok but the representative was underhanded. We will never be using Aspen roofing again and believe me, I am spreading the word.

It is illegal...but it wasn't explained properly.

AUTHOR: Deuce - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, March 04, 2012

It is illegal in the State of Missouri for a contractor to "eat" your deductible. That is in essence what you were looking for. YOU actually never paid the deductible.

The insurance company will cover all of the cost of repairs EXCEPT for your deductible. That part you have to come up with. It didn't come off the top. The insurance company showed what the project should cost. They then said we will give you all the money for it...except your deductible which you are required to pay. If a contractor says he will do it for less, the insurance company will then pay less. But the deductible will always be there.

Any contractor in MO would do the same.

Not sure on the quality of work, but they were correct in asking for the money from you. Its just unfortunate that it wasn't explained properly to you in the beginning. Hope this helps to understand a bit.

Confusion

AUTHOR: Kelly - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, February 16, 2012

I do not understand why you think the insurance company did not get their deductable. That is not what I said. The deductable came off the top of the check that was written. They got their money before anyone else did. The rep knew this when the deal was struck. No one is trying to get over on the insurance company or anyone else. A deal is a deal.  We did nothing illegal. My main intention filing a report here was to warn others. Thanks for your interest. Sorry for your confusion. Have a nice day.

what you are asking is illegal in Missouri

AUTHOR: Royal - (United States of America)

Aspen is not a very good company but what you are asking them to do and what you are complaining about is illegal in Missouri. You are NOT allowed to save your deductible from Roof Damage under any circumstance. What you are doing is trying to get around your deductible which is your problem. You post a Rip Off Report when you are also ripping off your Insurance Company? If you chose a deductible of $500 or $1,00 you should pay it. The Roofing Co can now lose their license if they get caught doing this. It amazes me how people like you always want something for free when you are as guilty as the company putting your roof on. If you do not want to pay a deductible find an Insurance Company that will take you, otherwise get a life.
