Warning to anyone in the Knoxville, TN area considering using this company. Make sure they provide copies with all fields COMPLETED. The Salesman from Aspen didn't leave a copy of our service contract or the estimate providing firm figures for the replacement of my roof. If he had, I would have seen that his estimate was over $3000 (25%) higher than my other three bids. He also neglected to leave a copy of the contract my wife signed, which turned out to have no firm figures provided - just "per insurance" in the cost spaces. That means they'll take all your insurance settlement money, when there might be other contractors that will do the work for less. This document also spelled out the law allowing a consumers to cancel the contract within three business days after signing. Had we been left copies of these signed documents we would have realized the excessive costs and canceled the contract.

Quality of work was average, and slow. It took three days to do what was verbally promised to be a one day job. They had to come back twice to make adjustments to gutters and shingles around them.

We will NEVER use ASPEN ROOFING again, and advising friends, neighbors and family against doing business with this company. Too many good, truly local companies available that do better work for les money.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Getting "bids" doesn't save you money!!!

AUTHOR: Deuce - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, March 04, 2012

It is a bit shady that they didn't leave their contract. I've heard of them but haven't had any direct contact with them so I can't comment on that. But I do know a lot about the insurance process with homes, vehicles, and life.

With insurance claims, getting multiple bids WILL NOT save you any money. It will, however, save the INSURANCE company money. If a contractor will do the same work the insurance says needs to be fixed for LESS than what the insurance company is estimating it at, the insurance company will then PAY LESS!!! You don't get to put that money in your pocket. It is illegal for customers to profit monetarily from an insurance claim. If you find someone to do it for less...you insurance company will thank you.

The insurance company will cover all of the cost of repairs EXCEPT for your deductible. That part you have to come up with. It didn't come off the top. The insurance company showed what the project should cost. They then said we will give you all the money for it...except your deductible which you are required to pay. If a contractor says he will do it for less, the insurance company will then pay less. But the deductible will always be there. And going with a lower bid won't save you money.
