Aspiration Bank I was looking through my screenshot captured images and found one of aspiration page where you enter your personal information. The screenshot was of my mother's maiden name. I did not take a screen shot of this information and I think somehow someone was able to get this information this way. I have not yet seen anything damaging to my identity but I am concerned about this. Internet

Aspiration Bank online offers a high yield interest checking account. In order to get an account, you must request it. It takes up to 2 weeks to "wait in line" and be invited to apply for an account. I found the website recommended in multiple financial advising websites. You apply the same way you would for a credit card and they ask you to give your bank information so they can make two small deposits for you to verify the account. They also ask for your mother's maiden name. They do not tell you that you must be approved AFTER you give your bank details. I find this a little bizarre. The strangest thing that happened is my phone somehow took a screenshot, without my knowledge, of the page where I entered my mother's maiden name. This makes me believe someone has stolen my information somehow. I have put an alert on my bank account to watch for fraudulent charges as I was declined for this account after giving all of this information. This is not a line of credit, it is a checking account.

The security of Aspiration's customers is our top priority.

AUTHOR: Aspiration - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, August 17, 2017

Aspiration is a conscience-driven, customer-centered online financial firm. The security of our customers is our top priority and we restrict access to our customer information on a need-to-know basis. We will never sell or lease customer information for any reason to anyone. Please see our Security Policy for more information: https://www.aspiration.com/security-policy.

While we do not run applicant's credit scores, we do process a soft credit check in order to verify new customers, which is required by federal law. This credit check does not impact an applicant's credit score. In part due to these verification requirements, not all applications can be approved.

There is no need to “wait in line” for an account. Just download the app and you can sign up immediately.

Please feel free to email support@aspiration.com if you have any further questions or concerns--we’re happy to help!
