I had my Aspire card for about a year. I decided to pay the whole account off in full to reduce my debt to ratio. I paid this account off in September of 2005, I called Aspire and told them to close it and I also cut the card up. A few months later I received a bill of some charges of about $35. I called and was told that it was a charge that never made it onto my account. So I paid it and was assured I would not receive any other bills.

A few months later I received a bill of $14. I called and was told that it was itrest that was incorrectly billed to me. They assured me that they would credit my account and make sure it was closed. Today I received a collection notice from Aspire that claimed that I am past due on a balance of $62 Which includes a late fee of $35!

This card is the biggest RIP OFF. To top it off I can not reach them today because they are only available MON-Thurs!! I am angry and I could kick myself for giving this company the time off day with such a HIGH intrest rate of 23%. I am also concerned how there scam has affected my credit!

Dont Apply to them they are indeed a RIP OFF!

I applied for one of these cards, I got a letter stating I was approved along with the card and I would need to pay a $20 activation fee, I called and spoke to a rep,, who by all means could not understand English and I even kept telling her there was a language barrier, I had to ask the same question eight times and still have not recieved my answer cause she kept saying the same thing over and over and I told her that is not my question and I would ask again and she would respond with the same thing. She said I activated your card for you and you can use it when we recieve the $20, I stated no, I just told you I was sending the card back I do not want it, and she said the same statement over and over and I finally just hung up, I took the card cut it up in about ten pieces and put it in a envelope with ALL the paperwork they sent me, along with a letter stating I did not want the card, it was not activated by me and I wanted the account closed. Two weeks later which was yesterday I get a letter stating the account is closed please pay any balance blah blah blah, I look at the upper right hand corner looking for a phone number and it says BALANCE $179.00, I called the 800 number and they automated system tells me the balance is $0.00 so we will see, yeah this card is a rip off,, $159 charge for what??? The $20 I guess is for the activation fee thing, but anyhow I wrote down the date and time when it told me it was $0.00 and hopefully they closed it and I really do not owe that amount. I would NEVER pay a $150 fee to have a credit card and never have in my life.
