Ok, so like tons of other people in Michigan, I am searching for a new career opportunity. I stumbled across this extremely vague ad for Associated Community Services stating it was for Customer Service/Collections..it said nothing else about the position duties and didn't even list a website. Even with no information I figure why not send my resume in and then try to find out some info online to better my knowledge of what the company does.

So I faxed my resume over, maybe 5 minutes after I received a phone call from Darlene who spoke so fast I could barely get a word in. She quickly stated they saw my resume and wanted me to come in tomorrow. She set a time and gave the address and hung up.

After scheduling the appointment I immediately Google the company.....finding nothing but their address and a phone number on some random site. No website for their own company...that's not very promising...even all of those huge scam pyramid companies have websites.

I show up at the big cool looking Onyx building off of Telegraph and am pretty impressed with their location. As I get off of the elevator and enter their suite, I walk into a lobby with 5 other ladies sitting there. Flash back to again those scam pyramid companies...I was not enthused to say the least. But, I figured I would sit down and be interviewed since I was already there. 10 minutes after my scheduled interview, a young s****.> I proceeded to smile and ask how her day was. She led me down a long hallway to a conference room where Darlene entered as well. We sat down and I proceeded to tell them that I tried to research the company to find out what they did as a company and couldn't find anything. They then proceeded to tell me that they do not have a website and in order to find info on them I would need to go onto other companies websites...umm ok.

So they proceed to tell me what they do and it turns out...I was not interested and have way more qualifications then what they are looking for obviously. They lead me out of the office without giving me direction on how to find the elevators (sorry I've never been to the building before....don't know where everything is...especially being led out the back entrance) they follow me out and give rude remarks on how I never asked how to get out..well, I shouldn't have to ask...common courtesy (which they had none of).

Darlene decided it would make her look really good when she mocked me in asking if "my mommy had me come out to get a job..." I'm sorry I do not care who you are...you DO NOT say those things to people who come in to meet with you after you give no information and don't have a website.

Needless to say I was blown away and disgusted by the unprofessionalism and how rude every single person I saw there was. No company should mock and laugh at a person who takes time out of their day to come see you. If i was not as professional and mature as I am I would have stooped down to their level and told them off...but I didn't feel like making myself look as dumb as they did....

Stay away from Associated Community Services....they are just like all of the other scam companies...trust me.

I went to an interveiw today and sat and filled out an application. As I sat there all I heard was people shouting and talking and yelling "power hour," it was the most obnoxious yelling by so many people I have heard in a long time. Totally distracting and unprofesstional and rather CHEESEY! It was the beginning of a turn off for applying and was STRIKE ONE. I muttled through the application and as I sat there people were walking past from the back going in and out for their breaks. I thought, they have to go through the lobby of this business not through the side or the back? They were employees going to their break. They all looked thugged out and unprofessional, scarves tied up around their weave and doo rags, saggy pants, being loud as they passed, STRIKE TWO. Then it happened, some of the men that came out were flirting with the females there to interview calling them baby, asking them their name and for their numbers. These women were dressed for an interview and filling out their applications why were these men allowed to bother them? The receptionist said nothing and continued her conversation on the phone. I was through, it was all a big turn off. I got up, took my application from the clip board, handed the receptionist back the clip board, ripped my application up as I walked out. It was one of the most unprofessional ghetto experiences of my life.

Hi, ACS?  This is Strutzby, just replying on behalf of the FU.  Still ripping people off?  Aww, I'm sorry to hear that.  Anyways...

Just a few "funny" things I've noticed since working at ACS. 

1. Senior level managers at Associated Community Services clear over 200k per year in salary and bonuses.  Supervisors earn anywhere from 75-120k.  Trainers ~40-50k average. Top salespeople ~30-50k. 

2. ACS hires felons on parole because of the tax incentives they receive for hiring socially undesirable people.

3. Associated Community Services call center(s) are a haven for illicit drug use (and sales).  Go ahead and contact the property managers to hear about it.  There have been many company-wide meetings from the owner, d**k Cole, addressing this issue. 

4. ACS (Dearborn & Southfield) will drug test any employee they feel is under the influence while at work, however, they only do this to employees they want to fire.  If you are a power telemarketer that brings in a lot of money for the company, you will not get drug tested unless they have any reason they want to get rid of you.

5. The turnover rate for new employees is exacerbating. I have heard from Senior Managers that 8-9 out of every 10 people hired will not last longer than 30 days. I believe this is due to factors such as morality, stressful environment, repetitiveness, and overall character of the company.

Law Enforcement Education Program (LEEP)
Firefighters Assistance Fund
... and many more.

I am really amazed a person that really was over qualified came on the net to state bad things about just another company! 2 see this shows the reson you are not an employee of ACS. I work for some of the BEST people who not only made me a better person but changed my life for the better. When I want 2 be negative I remember who I was before workin for them n remind myself I love my new life much better.I am a very intolerable person at times but these people had patience and saw things in me that I didnt. I can not agree with rude, unprofessional,or childess acts...just doesnt click when U say ACS...Their main Goal is postivity, professional at all times and killing those with rudeness with kindness...My job employess many...many that cant go anyyy where elsa...they give people a secound chance n life...give u a chance to better yourself...they cant make u...but they will try there hardest...I stand 100% behind my company because they have become my new Family...I deal with my job fam more than my blood...cuz they give me the postivity U Need...We never rip NE one off...Our job is sincer... The amount a person gives is up to them...its not how much they give its the fact their givin....This upsets me to see this...U can ruin a great company with this because u either  2 negative u couldnt sale, didnt get the job, or just a bad experience with the company for wut ever reason...This is crazy...SHAME on U!!!!

I know you think that they hire all types but honestly , take an " accidental" walk through clerical . They will look at you salespeople like a bug that crawled out of thier meatloaf .
the woman was right ,I have been a victim and a witness to the cruelty in clerical . They are mean , snarky and rude . the managers will make fun of you and if you try to complain they will laugh it off and say " just confront them" . Excuse me , I want to file a formal complaint and you want me to start an ugly scene. interesting .
you think that they care about you , HA. If the millionaire that runs the place could make his money without you believe me HE WOULD !

Working for ACS - Morally Excusable?

Hopefully this link will make your stomach feel better because it is truthful. In my investigation of ACS, I have found that a very low amount of money actually goes for the supplies and services for which their representatives contact potential donors.

Essentially, you call people to ask them for a $15 - $250 donation for charity. However after overhead of both ACS and the charity a substantially low percentage is used for the supplies and services you pitch. The sales representatives and ACS corporation are in essence misleading the donor because they believe that a large portion of the money they donate goes towards the actual charitable services themselves.

They are right, you can make a lot of money. But on the same note, you could also make alot by taking old ladies purses on the street. ACS, however is legal yet in no way morally excusable. If you want to mislead good people, many of older age, then you can make decent money working in their call centers, which are reminiscent of the early American cotton fields with a modern makeover. It's your choice.

Reading this report honestly made my stomach hurt because of all the lies. Employees of ACS and even former employees would tell you that this company welcomes everyone with open arms. I have worked for ACS for almost 3 years and I take pride in what I do. The management staff is dedicated to keeping the employees happy, positive, and always promoting within. I have never been surrounded with so many positive caring people who are always willing to help. Another bonus us you can make a lot of money and I mean A LOT! You want a career change or just need a second chance, ACS is definitley the way to go!
