I recieved a letter , very official looking letter, stating I had an outstanding balance on a Chase Bank, U.S.A. N.A. Credit card for 5192.09. This letter has an account number and ars acct. no. and includes my home address and name ect. The letter states that they'll accept $2855.65 as settlement in full.
I pannicked that someone had stolen my idenity and immediately went to free annual credit report.com. Thankfully this is a bullsh_t letter as I thought my credit report doesn't show any account opened or owing Chase Bank EVER!
Thankfully I have been able to keep my credit file all pay as agreed and top notch. I pity the poor soul who is having financial trouble ( with an ex-spouse, medical bills or whatever, and thinks this scammer company is for real, this could be very scary very fast. I didn't respond to the letter from this company .I hope you don't either. Something needs to be done with this company!
What's with this?

Why not try calling our company and finding out if you are the correct person? In some instances they have found another person with the same exact name in the same area and accidently sent mail to the wrong person. In other instances, you are the person who owes the money and maybe you "forgot" that you owed it. Either way, personally, I would call any agency and make sure they are not looking for me and to make sure the letters stop coming to my house because if you just throw the letter away you will keep receiving letters.
