My mechanic installed the first engine (AMC 258) from Gearhead / ATK on 9/25/2013 into my 83 Jeep CJ5.  The engine went 58 miles before it started making terrrible noises.  I brought it back to my mechanic and he concluded that a "Wrist Pin" separted on CYL #1.  GearHead / ATK said to pull the engine and send it back to them.

Fast Forward a month - My mechanic received and installed the replacement engine (Engine #2).  That engine never produced any oil pressure and several cyl had very low compression.  We then pulled the second engine and sent it back to them...

As it stands as of today:  I have spent $2500 for an engine I don't have.  I have spent $3300.00 on Labor Alone and Still owe my mechanic another $1600 on labor.  I have received $0.00 from my "No Fault" Warranty.  They said the first engine failed because of "too much fuel" in cyl #1 and therefore not the fault of the engine itself...  My Mechanic said that was 100% not the case and they just trying to cover their a$$.

I still have not heard anything back regarding the 2nd returned engine.  My Mechanic bore scoped the second engine and I have pictures to attach.  Basically the inside of the 2nd engine looked like it had never been rebuilt. There were carbon build ups on valves and cyl chunks and scoring on cyl walls.  Looked like they took a crap engine, repainted it and sent it to me as "Overhauled".

On top of everything else, their customer service is aweful.  They are Never available when you call and usually don't return your call when you leave a message.

My jeep has been in the shop since 9/20/13 and I am still waiting for a working engine.
