I went to Atlanta Medical Institute on after hearing about them on the radio.  There ad said they were weight loss and hormone experts.  After researching there website i went in for a free consultation.  The medical director dr. jeff semel purports to be an MD but he is really a chiropractor - see for yourself:

Anyway after my visit they offered me a pregnancy hormone not FDA approved for $400 bucks - a total ripoff.  I was there for only 15 minutes.  I felt like a dollar sign for the practice.  Beware of this practice.

  • The only accurate part of their complaint is that they heard us on the radio and we are experts in weight loss and hormone replacmement. We provide a free consultation to prospective patients and our results average between one half pound and one pound per day. It seems like the two complaints they had was 1. one of our doctors is a D.C. and 2. one of the products we use is a hormone in the body.
  • Our Medical Director is Dr. L. Jack Cheng. Our D.C. is Dr. Jeff Semel. Dr. Semel can't write perscriptions and dispense medications. He doesn't do that. In order to be on our weight loss program, you have to see a M.D. which is a different person than Dr. Semel. We have more than one type of Dr. on staff and they are incorrect that we promote Dr. Semel as an M.D.

It is true we use a hormone in the body called hCG. I guess you can call it a pregnancy hormone, except men have this hormone too and I haven't seen any men get pregnant. It is also true that this hormone isn't FDA approved for weight loss. We disclosed this to her, and it is in all of our paperwork. Does that mean that it doesn't work? It would be one thing if this person said they tried it and didn't lose weight. It is another thing to not try it and say it doesn't work. We have 30 patients that come in each week and we are qualified to say that it does work. Our Medical Doctor prescribes this hormone alnog with other tools to get great results.

It is probably more realistic that this person didn't have the money to spend or the committment to make towards losing weight and keeping it off. It isn't easy to do this, and it requires work on the part of the patients. This isn't magic, and a lot of people come in and want to lose weight without putting in any effort. THis isn't magic, but it is a great tool to make losing weight easier. We stand behind our program 100% and challenge this person to try the program before they slander us.
