To Whom It May Concern:
On or about January 19, 2004, I contacted the website of 123movers (www.inquiries@123movers.com 201-944-5900) to illicit quotes from car transporters for a delivery from Cleveland, Ohio to Las Vegas, Nevada. I received a quote from Atlantic Global Transport (Exhibit 1) now doing business as Snow Bird Auto Transport. I called Atlantic and arranged transport with a customer service agent by the name of Diane on January 29, 2004. My car, a 1995 Ford Mustang, was to be picked up on the 3rd of February
(Exhibit 2). ). My husband paid for the transport of this vehicle on January 29, 2004
(Exhibit 3). We were assured at the time of placing the order that the vehicle would be delivered within 7-14 days. I was very adamant in getting this assurance and questioned Diane at length concerning any foreseen or unforeseen possible delays. I was again assured that my car would be delivered within the above-mentioned time frame. In fact she informed me that 14 days was really an exaggerated estimation and that most vehicles were delivered way before that.
Fourteen days passed and there was no delivery of my vehicle. My husband and I began calling Atlantic to find out when the car was to be received. Joe informed us that the 9-car carrier had broken down and that two 5-car carriers had been dispatched. My car was on the second carrier therefore my wait time would be expanded another 14 days. Another 14 days passed and still no delivery. My husband and I called again and were told by Atlantic that the car would be delivered within the week. Weeks passed and still no car.
Finally, on March 5, 2004 we were told that the 3rd party carriers' driver Jim of Silver Streak Auto Transport, had a sudden death in the family and was unable to deliver until the following Wednesday.
Fortunately, Diane gave my husband Jims' direct telephone number. I contacted Jim on the 5th of March and he informed me that my car was still in Ohio and he had not picked it up yet. He stated that he was planning to do so on the 12th of March and guaranteed that my car would be delivered on Friday, March 19, 2004.
This is when my husband and I began to think we were victims of fraudulent business practices. Our suspicions had just been confirmed that Atlantic's representatives had been lying to us from the very beginning. There was no carrier break down on the expressway; my car had never left Cleveland, Ohio.
Today is Thursday, March 18, 2004 and I am unable to reach Jim, my calls and numerous messages have gone unanswered. My husband called the towing company that originally picked up my vehicle, Shoreway Motors located in Euclid, Ohio and was informed by Pam, that my car is still there and that the order for transport was cancelled by a representative of Atlantic Global Transport over two weeks ago. She further stated that she was directed by Atlantic to charge my husband and I all fees relevant to the pick up and delivery of my motor vehicle.
To date, there has been no refund of the monies paid to Atlantic, nor have they provided us with an explanation of their actions. I have filed a complaint with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (www.1-888-dot-saft.com)
(Exhibit 4),and my local police department of Strongsville, Ohio. My husband spoke to Officer Pitschmann and has a police report (#9792). We plan to pursue further action within the justice system.
