Atlantis Bahamas Buyer Beware Paradise Island Other

If you book through Atlantis, then beware.  When you book room and flight, they give you the total package price but that is not true.  You can book through other online agencies for approximately the same price which does include the airfare.  What Atlantis does not tell you is that the airfare will be billed separately by the airline.  You don't find this out until after you book it and only then do they provide you the terms and conditions, which are

"APV PACKAGES:

You may choose to purchase a combination package of travel-related goods and services provided by different suppliers, including for example, hotel accommodations with airfare, or other transportation to the Resort (an "APV Package"). If you include airfare in your package, while you may receive a special discounted package rate for the total amount you pay for the package, your credit card will be separately charged by the airline for the airfare component of the package. By purchasing a package that includes airfare, you agree to authorize your credit card to be charged separately by the airline and APV, up to the total package price. Applicable airline fees or penalties for changes or cancellations, will be the sole responsibility of the guest. You further acknowledge that other suppliers may have their own payment terms and conditions, rules, restrictions and limitations governing the purchase of such services. Please review all terms and conditions associated with the different components of your package carefully, to ensure that you are aware of, and comply with, any applicable terms and conditions, rules or restrictions. Purchase of an APV Package constitutes your agreement to be bound by the terms and conditions imposed by APV and any supplier, including payment of all amounts when due and compliance with all rules, limitations and restrictions governing the purchased goods or services. Please note that you must contact APV directly, at 1-888-528-7155, if you wish to modify or cancel any component of your APV Package. Although APV will attempt to accommodate your requests, please note that any changes may result in additional fees or charges, and APV cannot guarantee the availability of rooms or transportation to satisfy your request. In addition, APV and/or its suppliers, in making arrangements for the transportation, accommodations and other services referred to herein, acts only as an agent for the owners and operators of such transportation, accommodations and services or facilities, and APV's responsibility is limited to that of an agent."

Even if you do see this before booking, you might assume the airfare will be deducted from the total package price.  You can get the same package from any other online agency that does include all room, flight, taxes and service fees.

When I contacted the Atlantis online agent to question this, their response was:

Agent Says: You would like to know if an air inclusive package includes the air.

Agent Says: Am I correct?

You: yes

Agent Says: If you are booking an air inclusive package, you would be selecting the flights from a specific gateway and adding the hotel room of your choice.

You: So I would pick the room and the flight details which would show me the room and flight arrangements and the total price would inlcude the flight, right?

Agent Says: The total price will include the airline price and the room and whatever other components you add.

You: Thank you
