Atlas Butler Heating & Cooling- Columbus Price gouging and refusal to service Columbus Ohio

This is the first time I write a review about a business service I used. This doesn’t mean that I am always pleased with the services I have requested but my experience with Atlas Butler Heating & Cooling  is by far the worst I’ve had.  I bought a club membership with Atlas Butler so they can come fix any issues promptly when needed and to get a discount on the labor and material. One of their technicians came on February to fix a minor problem with the heater, which he did, then recommended that I replace my water heater soon because the bottom is rusted and might cause leaks. He gave me a club member estimate around  $1200 to replace my short 40 gallons water heater.  Since it was not leaking at the time, I decided to wait on replacing it. 4 months later, the water heater started leaking, so I called Atlas Butler immediately and asked them to send someone to stop the leak and replace the water heater. I told them about the estimate that their technician gave me and that I was willing to pay that. They told me they would have the same technician call me to schedule the work. An hour later, the technician called me to let me know that his estimate back in February is no longer accurate because of some new government regulations and that I would have to pay a little over $2100 to get my water heater replaced. He added that the price is a club member price and that it would cost me even more than that if I weren’t a club member. I told the guy that I would have to think about it and that for now all I want is that they send someone to fix the leak problem. He refused to come or send someone because he said there was nothing he could do if the leak is from the bottom. I felt taken advantage of big time but I refused to give in to their price gouging and immediately called another company. They came the following day and did the work for $958. I called Atlas Butler customer service to cancel my membership and I was told that I would have to pay a fee of $145. Their membership discount is just a scam to make their customers feel that they are getting a good deal but in reality, they charge them way more than the market value. I do not recommend doing business with this company. They are dishonest and do not value their customers.
