On February 20, 2009 my phone was cut off because I had got behind on payments. My wife went to the physical payment office immediately and paid the full amount to have the phone turned back on. It was immediately turned back on. That very evening I had my phone service switched from AT&T to DPI Teleconnect. Before the week was up I received a bill from AT&T saying I owed them $95.83. I initially ignored it thinking it was a mistake and that it would be corrected. Later I received a bill stating that if I didn't either pay the bill in full or make arrangements to make payments it would be turned over to a collection agency. I then called AT&T to tell them I didn't owe them anything and explained that I had paid two bills in one month because they had made a policy to everyone that had a fixed bundle to pay a month in advance. As everyone knows who uses AT&T, it's hard to find the department you need to find. When you start trying to explain, they tell you that you need to talk to someone in billing and the billing department is the number I called in the first place. I told the lady I talked to that my phone had been cut off and that we paid it up to date to get it cut back on. She agreed that the only way to get it cut back on was to pay it current. I then told her that I had changed from AT&T to DPI that very day. I asked how it was possible to accrue a bill of $95.83 as I was no longer with AT&T. I could never get her to understand. I have my receipts and would be willing to fight this knowing I would win. They are nothing but crooks and scam artists. My bundles package started out at around $82.00 a month and went up to as high as $125.00 a month without notice. I have the same service with DPI for only $52.00 a month. The reason I'm filling this report is because I feel I am being billed unjustly and I have read where other people have undergone the same thing with AT&T. I think this deserves to be investigated. It seems that a lot of utilities are becoming corrupt.

Anyway AT&T turned the account over to NCO Financial Systems, Inc. and I went online to see if anyone else had the same problem I had with them and I found that not only did someone else have the same problem with AT&T but their account had been turned over to NCO. AT&T was also trying to harm their credit rating. Simple robbery is what it looks like to me. I have my receipts to prove it.
