At&T Free to go Wireless
Lincoln, Neb.
To Whom it May Concern:
We purchased a cell phone and decided that prepaid was the route for us to go. We travel alot, and we didn't want to worry about a bill.
Recently, I tried to use the phone and a computor tells me I have no time left. Just the day before there was over 200 minutes on the phone. What happened to all these minutes I have already paid for?
When we call AT&T, we were informed that we had to use our minutes in 45 days or loose them. Why? They are already paid for. I don't understand this. When I asked to talk to a supervisor about this, I was basicly ignored. Don't they have a supervisor on at all times? Why can't I speak to one?
Also, my husband was in Texas and decided to purchase another phone. He was told that he would be to call every where in the US. Not true! He decided to return the phone and get his money back. This was done within 3 days of purchase. He did get his money on the phone, but lost $75 he had paid for minutes.
In some states it is necessary to first dial your own phone number, your security code, then the number you wish to call. What if it was an emergency? This didn't make much sense to me.
So as I sit here typing this, I feel AT&T owes me $75 plus 200 minutes on the phone. They state they can do nothing, and that this policy is stated in their hand book. Can't find it! Why should there be a time limit when we prepay? It's not that we owe them any money. They owe me money!
My suggestion to everyone is beware of prepaid phones. Most certainly the AT&T prepaid. Buyer Beware! most definately fits here.

When I was shopping for a cell phone, I too decided pre-pay was the best choice for me, but I compared the different plans available. Just picking up a brochure, I knew that AT&T's minutes expired in 45 days.
I went with Verizon, because their minutes last for 60 days. I miscalculated once and let the minutes expire. When I called them, I explained the situation, and they re-enacted my minutes.
