ATT was my cell carrier for 4 years. I gt only one phone from them, an IPhone 4 which I dropped and it had a shatter  I noticed on my account I had an upgrade available. So following their site wide advertisement to order an IPHONE 6 Plus  with no money down and a payment plan for 18 months.

The plan was one that after 18 onths it could be renewed without penalty to upgrade phones if desired.  The first blunder that ATT made was to GUARANTEE delivery in 2 days via FED EX for FREE.  They required a credit cared to bill the tax for the unit which ended up being about $120 .  The order gave a confirmation and delivery date for Oct 25 2014.

 

The problem was that ATT oversold the iphones and they were not available.  ATT on the day it was expected updated the online order to display delivery for Nov. 19, 2014.  Not pleased I had no choice but wait. The initail charge had been authorized and recieved an approval from the credit card company. It was deducted from my available balance.

On Nov 19, 2014 the same thing happened with the delivery, this time delayed until Dec 19, 2014.   I tried to cancel the order and called and was told the order once made and confirmed could not be cancelled.  When Dec 19 came and went I checked onine again and this time I saw "Order Cancelled". No explanation nothing. 

I needed a phone, so I tried again to re do the order this time my upgrade was not available until my "Existing" contract was paid.  Existing??? I had been out of contract for 2 years.. The amount was over $945.  I realized the contract was for the IPhone I ordered that ATT cancelled.  Then after three phone calls and being told they did not know why my account could not be cleared of the cancelled order that they cancelled .  I spoke to supervisiors , tech support  FIVE TIMES and I emailed three times. I was told in live support that I would be contacted that day and was never one time ever followed up with.

I figured out what had happened and why the order was cancelled. If you recall that Christmas Season (2014) Several companies had been hacked and the Etrade account card I used for that ATT IPhone order was among the 5000 compromised accounts. The card  I had was automatically replaced. 

Well ATT tried the old card that was put into the order two months earlier after the card had been replaced.  Upon explaining this to a supervisoer she could see the card had been declined in Dec 2014.  So I explained that the two year contracrt was based upon a phone purchase and that I was not liable for any contract  which was the amout of the phone. The account showed me as being responsible for paying off the IPhone 6 Plus at $945.  The supervisors could see that I did not ever get sent a phone, that my account was not used and that they caused the entire problem by promising phones to be fed-exed within two days. Had they in fact done as they said in the order confirmation there would have been no delay and no reason to re-submit a charge amount.  The order was confirmed, the car was approved and they had no phones to send out.

By the time I heard from them 3 months had passed. They sent a bill that was heading to collections if I did not pay.  I called yet again, I wrote a letter and I called and just as before, I was promised to have someone get back to me.  It now APPEARS ON MY CREDIT REPORT as an unpaid bill now over $1200.

This is completely thier fault I am not liabe for a contract they violated nor am I repsonsibe for paying for a phone I never recieved.  I have no idea how to get this removed off my credit report, I HAVE INDEED TRIED and it was put back on after my request to have it removed as a debt that is not my responsibility.  They also have been charging my account for a month and a half of service that I did not use and had not cancelled while awaiting the IPhone that was never sent.   I have filed a complaint at the FTC.    BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY.  ALSO  for the record they are a  COMMUNICATION type of company yet they will not allow a customer to email and they do not post any address on their support page for mobile customers to write to them. This to me is so that people are funnelled into conversations which of course cannot be presented as evidence  like an email or letter can.
