I purchased a vehicle alarm / remote start sytem. AFter the install I was having vehicle electrical problems, after starting the truck with the remote, the starter stayed engaged while the truck was at idle. The truck made a horrible sound, started smoking. I shut the truck off took the truck to Audio Express the next day. The installer said it was impossible, could not happen and basically called me a liar. Then the lights were staying on, randonmly. At this point I am ready to have the alarm removed.
Before I can have the alarm removed I started the vehicle with the remote and accidently put my foot on the brake. The vehicle died and has not run since. A audio express installer came out and removed the alarm but the vehicle did not start. Then he started cutting wires and half removed the system. He then started applying power the computer to try to start the vehicle from a wire in which he created a bare wire and added power saying this was to the starter. I said I don't think you should do that but he did anyway.
I had to have the vehicle towed to a mechanic who is familar witih the problem and he said it was the alarm system. He requested the alarm company to come out and completely remove the alarm and hardware so we can troubleshoot the system. When I saw the alarm installer he had an attitude and started ripping out wires carelessly and with an attitude. I had another mechanic look at the vehicle who specality is vehicle computers. He definately said it was a computer problem and the alarm caused this.
So far the alarm system has erased my sercurity keys and had to be re-programemd, destroyed two computers and the truck is still not running. The repair will cost over $5,000.00 and I had to file an insurance claim for the damages.
Audio express continued to claim the alarm did not cause this. My truck worked perfect for 160,000 miles until I had the alarm installed then all these problems started. I am a disabled veteran and I need this truck to get to and from doctor appointments, grocery shopping and so on.
Stay away from this place.
