We have unfortunately had several issues with AuPair Care since we started with the program.  We have had a very difficult time finding childcare for our 2 year old daughter.

After a lengthy interview process, our first au pair arrived in February 2014.  Within 48 hours of being in our home she left our infant daughter alone on the couch, while she went to the basement to gather her things.  Later that afternoon, she proceeded to leave our daughter seated on the kitchen countertop next a bot of BOILING WATER.  We quickly requested that she leave our home.

Our next encounter was with an au pair who was supposedly infant specialized.  We later found out that this simply meant she spent a few extra hours learning infant CPR one afternoon.  Within 1 month of being with us, she felt she needed to go to a family with older children, as she herself felt she was not qualified to care for an infant.

Despite our exhaustion from these two encounters, we were finally matched with an au pair who was qualified, and able to complete her duties.  She thankfully stayed with us for an entire year.

Her time now coming to an end, we began our search for a new au pair.  We had at least 5 conversations with this au pair, never once did she state she had any special accommodations that were needed.  She had also agreed to work the days that we needed, on Wednesday nights and on Saturdays, as both my wife and I work at those times.

Once again, we have another au pair who was inappropriately screened. She states that she is a Seventh Day Adventist, and can not work on Saturdays.  She stated that her original intention was to take our daughter (my wife and I are both loosely practicing Catholics) to church for the entire day, WITHOUT ASKING OUR PERMISSION.

The entire process has been incredibly frustrating, exhausting, and not to mention unstable for our daughter as we have now had 4 au pairs come in and out of our home in 15 months.

When we contacted AuPair Care for a refund of our hefty program fees ($7515.00) we were told we were only going to receive a partial refund.  This is horribly unjust that they are forcing paying customers to should the responsibility of properly screening basic components of childcare, and religious accommodations.
