I needed to replace the ecm computer in my car so I decided to go through ACE auto computer exchange it was not only costly mistake but a horrible experience!!! I decided to go through ace when I saw there website it has turned out to be all lies.I have been through 3 ecm computers all compleatly defective and worthless.It now been since november 2011 it is now march 22 2012 and still returning there defective junk back to them once again and they tried even asking for more money.I and my wife have been ripped off $200 and she has now lost her job cause of no transpartation.I don't have enough time to explain all the problems these scam artists have put us through!!!WARNING DO NOT GO THROUGH AUTO COMPUTER EXCHANGE you will be ripped off!!!

Employee's Company Knows Nothing About ESD

This employee is accusing a consumer that they didn't install the unit properly. Are you aware that your former company ships PCM's in standard bubble wrap that isn't anti-static?  Sensitive electronics should be shipped in anti-static bags for ESD (Electro-static Discharge) protection. How can you accuse a consumer of something when it left your factory improperly packaged?

The so-called ex employee is either delusional or not being entirely truthful.   I also dealt with this company and, contrary to the ex-employee's comments, did take the PCMs (2 in total) I got to the dealer for installation.  Over the course of more than 3 months, I fought, argued and, ultimately, begged this company to send me a correct PCM.   The first one I received was not even for my model vehicle.  After several phone calls, they finally agreed to take it back and ship me the "correct" one. 

When I finally got the next one (weeks later), it arrived with bent pins and VERY banged up.   I called them and they suggested I try straightening the PINS and then install it.  I told them I would feel better having another shipped as this one was in VERY bad condition.  They insisted (not cooperative) so I took it to the dealer where they attempted to install it (after straightening the pins.).  

Once installed, the dealer showed me it was not the correct PCM (Not correct for my vehicle) on their scanner (Starscan) and said it could not be installed.   Note also ACE website states their PCM is "Plug and play".  It is not for many vehicles (mine included).  I have a Chrysler 300C with anti-theft protection.  This means it HAS to be programmed by the dealer or the car will not run with the PCM in it (SKIM has to be entered).

When I called ACE back to tell them what had happened and what I needed, they now said they could send me another one but it would cost another $200.00.  They tried to explain away the extra $200 with very obscure reasons.   I told them I was done with them and wanted a refund. 

The ONLY positive note here is that, after quite a lot of time and many phone calls, I did actually get my money back.   Regardless of what the ex-employee has in his rebuttal, I would steer clear of this company.   There are WAY too may issues with them and, although they may appear cooperative on the phone, you can count on having problems with them.

One last point on the ex-employee bashing of the individual with the grammar issues.  I would caution you to avoid making assumptions about a person's honesty based solely on their grammatical skills.   I could assume you are a shallow, demeaning, mean spirited individual, based on your comments about another person, but I won't because I do not truly know you, do I?

I am a former employee of Auto Computer Exchange. I left a few years back and have since started my own business in auto part sales. I would like to state right off the bat that I feel this negative report is a hoax. Furthermore, I would like to challenge the author to provide proof that the transactions mentioned really occurred.

IF, and that's a big "IF" the events described truly did occur, then its stands to reason that the person filing this report neglected to follow the very blatant warning notices that are issued standard with each ECM sent out. The notices state the following: 

-ECM's should be installed by a qualified professional. Improper installation and grounding may result in shorting out the replacement ECM.

-ECM's are often rendered inoperable by a short originating somewhere in the automobile. Proper due diligence must be performed by a qualified professional in identifying other defective components PRIOR to installation of the replacement ECM. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL LIKELY RESULT IN SHORTING OUT THE REPLACEMENT ECM.

Needless to say, these two notifications are the reasons why so many ECM's are sent back to ACE shorted out and the frustrated customer claiming it was a bogus ECM to begin with.

One sentence in particular of the original complaint stands out:

"I have been through 3 ecm computers all compleatly defective and worthless."

First, try using spell-check! Second, if this were truly the case, it is more likely that YOU fried all 3 of the ECM's than from the business sending you 3 faulty ones. You probably fried them due to:
-improper handling
-non-qualified professional installation
-failure to identify and remediate other faulty components on the automobile prior to installation of the replacement ECM

I don't often retort to claims, but it is unfair to allow baseless claims such as this one to remain online for others to read. With that said, I would like to point out a few other items.

1) As previously stated, ACE sends out a BOLD notice with each ECM notifying the customer of certain things to be weary of prior to installation. 
I doubt whoever wrote this complaint ever read that notice.
I make this assumption based on the writer's likelihood of not reading anything not written in crayon! Again, this assumption is based on the writer's extremely poor grammar skills.

For example:
You will notice several run-on sentences, little or no punctuation used, misspelled words, and improper sentence structure or word usage:

"... I saw there website"                     **wrong use of their**
"...it was not only costly mistake"       **I think you are missing the letter 'a' somewhere**
"...It now been since november"         **lets try this again,  It HAS now been since November**
"and still returning there defective"    **again, wrong use of their**
"I and my wife have been"                 **Oh geez...hears dueling banjo's in the background**
"..has now lost her job cause of no transpartation"  **try spellcheck, and going back for your GED**

I say this to anyone who is considering using ACE's services:


Look at Ebay's rating of this seller. Notice their ratings:
-Yellow Shooting star for exceptional feedback/scores
-Top Rated Seller

As you may or may not be aware, ONLY VERIFIED buyers can leave feedback on ebay. This means that you HAD to have made a purchase in order to leave the feedback. A little odd that their score doesn't seem to reflect what is written here does it? You know why that is? BECAUSE MOST OF THESE NEGATIVE REPORTS ARE HOAX's written by people meaning to sabotage this company's reputation. 

I don't know if this is frowned upon, but I intend to address and challenge all negative reports made against this company here on Rip Off Reports.
