Ordered a bumper for my 1983 Jeep Cherokee. The price listed was reasonable. $121.99, and charged it to my credit card (VISA)

Waited a month and did not get the bumper, although tthey did charge it to my card.

Called LA from Ohio and got put on hold 2-3 times, asked for a 800 number. Called back and the 800 number was no good. Called again and got put on hold. Gave up.

Called again after emailing quite a few times without a response. Told them I would like an answer. They said that it was in a shipping container on it's way to the US, to wait a few weeks. Never id get the bumper.

Filed a complaint with the LA, Calif. Better Business Bureau, was told to wait a few weeks until they contacted the company. Got a post card back saying that they had no sucess, and that they would keep my complaint on file.

Thanks alot BBB! I am still driving around without a front bumper, and no money!

THEIR REPORT:

We rate this company as having an unsatisfactory business performance record based on a pattern of unanswered complaints alleging bait and switch pricing and false advertising. Complainants allege they order items from this company's website which are listed with current price information. After confirming the price, and authorizing payment, they discover the company substantially raises the price of the item after they receive their credit card statement. Other customers complain that items purchased are advertised with no shipping charges; however, when credit card statements arrive, the shipping charge sometimes exceeds the price of the item. One customer alleges he was charged $42.50 for shipping a 2 pound item which cost $11.99. To date, all complaints are unanswered. California consumer protection law declares it unlawful for any company to place untrue or misleading ads to induce the public to enter into an obligation to purchase if the intent is not to sell at the advertised or stated price. Whenever a price is mentioned in advertising, any extra charges should be disclosed in immediate conjunction with the price. Some examples might include, delivery, installation, assembly, travel charges, or shipping and handling. An asterisk may be used to impart additional information about a word or term which is not in itself deceptive. The asterisk should not be used as a means to contradict or change the meaning of the ad, and should be clearly and prominently disclosed. The Better Business Bureau does not endorse, recommend or disapprove of any product, service or company.
