I went in to purchase a vehicle. I bought a 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 sport with 6300 miles on it.  Before the purchase I noticed it had one key. I was promised I would get the other key the following Tuesday. I never heard back and have been getting the run around ever since. I also referred a friend (BIG MISTAKE!!!) who bought a new vehicle for $42,000! I never even got my $100 referral from them. So far we've bought $72,000 in vehicles and this is the way were treated?!?!?!?! Don't go to this dealership. They are not trust worthy. What happened to the good ol' days when you could take someone at their word?

One Key

AUTHOR: James MK - (USA)

POSTED: Friday, January 06, 2012

This is not really a rip-off. More and more auto manufacturers only provide a single key with a new vehicle, but give out two remote starters. This is especially the case for vehicles with keyless entry as standard equipment. On my own vehicle I don't actually need a key to drive it. I use the remote to start the engine then punch in a code to unlock the drivers door, then punch in another code to unlock the steering and controls.

I prefer to use the key, but they only gave me one.  If I want to let someone else use my vehicle but don't want them to know the codes I have to give them the key. This is not always practical so I had a second key made at the dealership, but it cost me $400.

I think it's changed to getting their WRITTEN word, sad, but true.
